I'm Sorry

Leaning against her door frame with her arms crossed and an annoyed look on her face Y/N speaks to the straw-blonde standing in front of her.

"What do you want?" she replied.

Denki looked down at the ground and thinks. The real answer is that he had to show her the Stain video and gauge her reaction, but before he could do that she had to not be mad at him anymore. What he wished he was doing instead was being sincere with the apology that he was about to give and wrapping her in his arms as kisses her.

"I want to talk," he calmly replies.

She looks at him and sees that he looks sad. Regretful maybe? She wasn't sure, but whatever it was he deserved it. Y/N was still mad after the last conversation they had during internships. He never even bothered to try to apologize. If he wasn't there to say some form of I'm sorry then he could go the hell away.

She stepped away from the door but didn't close it indicating that he could go inside her house. Denki hesitantly followed but he was scared. He had never seen her this mad before, and honestly, it was scarier than Shigaraki throwing a tantrum.

Standing in silence Denki can tell that Y/N is waiting for him to start this conversation. She is in control and will not be made a fool this time. He knows that if he even breathes funny she'll most likely kick him out.

"I'm sorry," he meekly states.

The h/c haired girl looks at Denki with a straight face void of any emotion.

"What exactly are you sorry for? Are you sorry that you made me feel like shit? Maybe, you're not sorry at all, but you realize that I'm not going to talk to you unless you say that you are. So, you say you're sorry, but it sounds just as hollow as the few words we spoke last week. Care to try again and I'd be careful this time."

Listening to her words he realized how much he's hurt her. Every word from her mouth was angry and filled with sadness. It broke his heart. He felt tears starting to prick at the corner of his eyes.

"I didn't mean to hurt you like this. I don't have a good excuse. I think I was just stressed at my internship."

Y/N could see the tears that he was trying to hold back. His eyes said he was sorry, but his reasoning wasn't matching up. She had seen him when he was tired, and he doesn't push away. He becomes clingy. There was something else, but for some reason, he wasn't telling her the whole story. What does she do now?

She lets out a long sigh. "I wish you'd be honest with me. I can tell this was about something else."

Denki loved and hated how perceptive Y/N was. It was something he never knew about until they started dating. He more than likely wouldn't have pursued her had he known. It's making moments like these difficult. He decides he'll be as honest as he can be.

"You're right. Something else is bothering me, but it's not something I can tell you about. I promise you've done nothing wrong though. This is all me. I'm sorry, Sunshine."

There is it was. Y/N finally found some honesty from the electric blonde. She was still curious and decided that she had earned the right to do some prodding.

"Why can't you tell me what's going on?" she asked.

Denki sighs as he responds.

"I need you to trust me, please."

Pleading honey-colored eyes were staring back at her. Y/N feels conflicted but decided to follow her heart which is telling her to have faith in him.

"I said when you first asked me on a date I better not regret this. That applies to this situation as well."

The straw-blonde only nods in agreement. He knows that once he finishes the task for Shigaraki then he has to go back to being distant. She has to break up with him and her words make his conscience feel heavy. He wished there was another way. Bringing himself out of his thoughts he decides to make the most out of his time with her today.

"So, I know you weren't with Todoroki when he was attacked by Stain, but have you seen him since? I mean you did say you were engaged to him."

Raising a brow towards the blonde she responds.

"You were listening? You realize I'm mad all over again, right?"

Denki panics for a moment as he answers.

"I was listening. It was hard to miss when you say that you were going to make babies with another man, but again, I'm sorry. I was being a dick that night."

The h/c haired girl sighs but decides to answer his original question.

"He came back to the agency when he was released. We didn't talk much though. He was pretty down about the whole thing."

Denki had made an opening for his task and now was a good time to ask about it.

"I know that the Stain guy hurt our friends, but have you seen the video that was made?"

Y/N shakes her head, no and Denki pulls her over to the couch to pull up the video on his phone. He presses play and he looks over to his girlfriend as she watches with interest.

The video itself talked about how Stain believed that the hero society should no longer be compensated. That a true hero needs to be willing to sacrifice everything. The hero killer made it clear that to achieve that goal that current heroes would need to die. He only deems at this moment that All Might is the only one worthy of a hero title.

Once the video finishes Denki sees that Y/N is deep in thought processing what she had just seen. After a minute Denki decides to see what her thoughts were.

"What did you think?" he asks.

Looking up at her boyfriend she carefully thinks about her answer.

"I don't think he's wrong in thinking that a lot of heroes do what they do for the wrong reason. I do however believe that killing heroes is the wrong way to try and fix the system. What do you think?"

"I think you're exactly right. I agree with everything you just said. I just think that changing a system that has been in place for a while is hard to do from the inside. There's a lot of red tape and people who don't want the system to change. I think that's why revolutions always have violence," Denki responds.

The h/c haired girl thought about his statement with care before responding.

"That's a good point. I think the biggest factor is having enough people who want the system to change to make a difference."

Satisfied with her answer Denki decides to change the subject.

"I missed you last week. Even when I was being shitty to you. I still missed being near you."

Y/N smiled softly at her boyfriend.

"Even though I was mad I missed you too, Pikachu."

She brought her legs up onto the couch and laid her head in Denki's lap. They sat and watched tv for the rest of the afternoon while he stroked her hair. Even though he planned to let her go he conflicted with himself. Every time he looked at her peaceful figure he never wanted to see her hurt because he was being purposefully hurtful to her. She had fallen asleep in his lap he decided he would find another way to protect her.
