Are You Okay?

It was the day of the actual UA Sport's Festival and not the nightmare that Y/N had dreamt of the night before. She had made it to school after leaving Shinso's house. The purple-haired teen walked her to school knowing that she would probably be on edge because of her dream. She had made her way to the arena and was standing with Shinso as they waited for the first event to start.

"So, the noisy pomeranian sure gave an inspiring pledge."

Y/N snorted at the comment. Bakugo's choice of "I just want to say that I'm going to win" had definitely embarrassed the whole of 1-A.

"It will be remembered in history as the speech that brought unity to the masses."

Shinso chuckled at the response and looked at his friend. She looked on edge, and he was sure he knew the reason why.

"Have you seen or talked to Sparky yet?"

Y/N thought for a moment. She did see him while they were standing at the entrance ceremony. He had looked over to her a few times, but she kept focused straight ahead and pretended not to see his attempted eye contact.

"I saw him at the entrance ceremony, but I haven't said anything to him. I know it was a dream, and I know I'm being stupid. It just felt so unbelievably real. Now when I look at him I see that creepy smile in my head."

She felt guilty for ignoring him. She knew that none of this was his fault. Y/N was hoping that as the day goes on she'd feel more at ease.

"Remember, I'm here for you. If you feel overwhelmed or anything just come find me. Okay?

Shinso looked at the girl in front of him. She smiled at him and he felt his heart thump in his chest. He had developed a small crush on the girl as they had gotten to know each other. The news of her starting to become close with Kaminari had caught him off guard, but he wasn't necessarily worried. He was patient, and he was willing to let this relationship with Kaminari run its course. Which at the moment may be ending before it even begins.

"Thanks, Shinso. You really are the best."

Y/N gave the tired purple hair teen a quick hug as she heard a familiar voice. She instantly felt tense as she quickly pulled away from Shinso.

"Hey, Sunshine. We haven't had a chance to talk yet today. Who's your friend?"

Shinso looked at Denki and could tell from the electric blonde's posture that he was jealous. It was at this moment that Shinso decided to have some fun because jealousy brings out the best in people after all.

"Hey, man. I'm Shinso Hitoshi from General Studies. I think I remember you. I saw you when I was scoping out your class, right? You looked a bit scared that day when I said I might take your spot."

Shinso never lost eye contact with the blonde and began to wrap his arm around Y/N's shoulder.

"How are you dealing with that thought now?"

Y/N peeled Shinso's arm off her shoulder and rolled her eyes.

"Don't be a douche Shinsou."

She also decided to smack him playfully for good measure.

"Nah, man. I'll be fine. I'm in 1-A and even though I don't know what your quirk is there's obviously a reason I made it and you didn't."

Denki had no clue at the time but the tone he had said his last statement with terrified Y/N. She had heard that tone in her dream, and she turned pale as she looked at the blonde.

"B-Both of you. P-Please play l-like nice children. Okay?"

Both males notice the timidness in Y/N's voice and backed off. Denki looked at Y/N and could tell something was wrong. At first, he thought she was being distant because of nerves, but then he saw how easily she interacted with the troll doll. Who was this guy to her and what was going on?

Denki knew he needed to diffuse the situation. They had made her feel uncomfortable, and he couldn't have her mad at him.

"Ah, man. I'm sorry my nerves probably are getting the best of me. I didn't mean to come off so rude. Especially with the 1-A thing. I don't think our class is better than any other."

Y/N relaxed a bit. His tone sounded more like his usual self and she felt less afraid. She needed to see more of this Denki.

"It's fine. I may have decided to try and get a reaction from you. It's not entirely your fault," Shinso replied.

Denki looked over towards Y/N. He decided that he wanted to talk to her one on one before the event began. He wanted to make sure that her weird behavior wasn't because of something he did.

"Y/N, can we talk alone for a minute?"

The h/c haired girl looked towards the electric blonde. She still felt uncomfortable, but they were in a public space with a fair amount of people.

"Yeah, we can talk. Shinso, I'll find you after the event. Okay?"

Shinso looked at his friend. She had calmed down, but she was still visibly nervous. He decided to let her go, but he would also make sure she stayed insight. He didn't entirely trust Kaminari. He felt that something in Y/N's subconscious didn't either and that's why she had that dream.

"Yeah, I'll find you when we get to the next event to check on you."

The tall tired teen walked away from the couple and glared at Kaminari as he went past. He wanted to send a message to the blonde that he shouldn't mess with his friend. The look didn't go unnoticed by Denki who just smiled back in response.

"Are you okay? It seems there might be something more going on than you're nerves."

Y/N thought about her response. She didn't want to tell him about her dream. She didn't want him to know that she was scared of him right now. She would come off as a crazy person for applying her feelings from a dream to her actual life. Especially, since they had grown closer in the last two weeks.

"I think it's like you said to Shinso. My nerves seem to be getting the best of me today as well. He was trying to help me relax when you came over to us."

Bullshit.

She was lying and Denki could tell. He was aggravated that she wouldn't confide in him. His plan isn't going to work if she doesn't trust him. He could try to find another girl, but he had already put a lot of effort in with Y/N. He also didn't like losing. He already was forced to hold back in this competition today, because he had to fake his true strength and ability. He'd be damned if he was going to lose her too.

"Are you sure? I feel like I did something wrong, but I'm too dumb to realize what it was. Can you help fill in the blanks, Beautiful?"

There it was. The nickname he repeatedly used in Y/N's dream. She felt sick the moment he had said it. It wasn't an uncommon nickname for him to use with her in the past, but now it felt tainted with that nightmare.

"NOW THEN TAKE YOUR PLACES CONTESTANTS"

Thank you, Midnight! Y/N felt somewhat relieved knowing she could postpone this conversation for a while.

"We'll have to talk later, Denki. I'm sorry."

Denki frowned as they both made their way to the gate.
