Y/N and Denki had been sparring in Y/N's backyard for over an hour. The couple was evenly matched. They both lacked formal training, and their skill level was about the same. They were a good choice in training partners because they were able to push themselves further together at the same pace.
"And pinned, Sunshine."
Denki was panting pinning the h/c haired girl to the ground straddling his legs over the top of her hips. The straw-haired blonde lingered a little longer than necessary staring Y/N in the eyes as her face begins to blush.
"Um-Denki-uh-let's take a break."
Y/N separated her eye contact with the male on top of her. She felt the practice was going well, but she felt an overwhelming feeling in her chest. She couldn't describe the feeling and so decided to ignore it for now.
Denki rose to his feet and reached out a hand to help Y/N up. They both grabbed a water bottle and took a drink.
"If you want I could make us something to eat? It's close to dinner time. Unless you need to go home to your parents?"
Y/n asked wondering if Denki was hungry or whether he was enjoying spending time with her at all. She wasn't even sure what they were at the moment, and this left her questioning other things other than her relationship status with the blonde.
"Well, my parents work a lot like yours. So, I don't really have a specified time to be home. I also don't want you to have to go through the trouble of cooking, beautiful."
Denki's parents did work a lot and it's one of the reasons he can easily work with the LOV. He doesn't have to have a lot of pre-made excuses for going out since there was no one home to have to tell them to.
"Oh! It's not a problem. I actually enjoy cooking a lot. I prefer to make my dinners instead of getting take-out constantly. It'd be nice to have someone to cook for!"
Y/N's smile met her eyes as she was thrilled to have the opportunity to cook for more than one person. It was true she valued her alone time, but that was mainly to avoid her arguing parents. In truth, she would like to have pleasant company consistently.
"Wow, Sunshine. You're pretty, smart, talented, and can cook. What is your weak spot? Is it blonde-haired boys with an overflowing amount of charm?"
Denki questioned the girl in front of him hoping to make her flustered.
Y/N hummed to herself in response. Placing a finger to her chin as she thought.
"Blonde-haired boy with a lot of charm? Hmm. Oh! I know! You must be talking about Monoma! He's got that weird grudge thing against our class, but he is pretty charming. I just adore his smile."
Denki threw a deadpanned look over to the girl across from him. This was not the response he expected.
"What? Monoma? He's such a creep!"
Y/N laughed. She knew she was giving Denki a hard time, but it was too tempting to stop. His frustration was adorable. She was living for it.
"You're right. You must be referring to Bakugo. Underneath that firey exterior, I bet he's a big softie."
Denki quirked his eyebrow at Y/N.
"I know you're just doing this to annoy me. It's working." He sat in a chair and crossed his arms with a sour expression on his face.
Y/N pouted her lips and looked at Denki.
"I'm sorry. You know that I think you're the cutest."
Denki gazed at the girl beside him. He smirked at her and responded.
"Do I? Prove it."
Denki knew she wasn't serious with her comments, but he going to milk this apology.
"How do I prove it?"
Y/N thought to herself for a moment and leaned into Denki's side. She quickly kissed his cheek and pulled away.
"Is that all I get? A peck on the cheek?"
Denki smirked back at the h/c hair girl.
"Yeah, it is. It's more than Monoma or Bakugo will be getting from me. You should feel blessed. I'm going to start cooking now."
Y/N started to walk away from the blonde towards the kitchen when she felt a tug on her wrist pulling her around. She landed on Denki's chest who then pressed her up against the wall in the hallway. He pinned his elbows on either side of Y/N's head and leaned in close to her ear.
"You know we could spend less time cooking if we ordered take out. I could think of a few things we could do with the time saved."
Denki placed a soft kiss on Y/N's neck. He then grazed his lips against hers. He wanted Y/N to be the first one to kiss. He wanted her to silently tell him she wanted him just as badly as he wanted her. He wanted to use this as a gauge to tell him how well he was doing his job. Y/N started to move her mouth against his.
*RING*
*RING*
Y/N sighed and went to grab her phone.
"Hey, Mom. Yeah, I saw your note. I was just getting ready to cook myself some dinner. Yeah, I can do a load of laundry. I promise I'll get my homework done. Okay, will I see you in the morning? Oh, you're going on a business trip?"
The h/c haired girl slumped down in a chair in the living room. Her brows had furrowed and she looked disappointed. Denki observed her new behavior. He knew that she was often home alone, and she seemed to be fine with it when she had mentioned it earlier. This reaction however was telling him a different story.
"Does Dad know? Wait, he has to go on a trip too? How long will you be gone? A month? Yeah, I'll be fine. No, honestly I'll be fine. Okay, I love you, too. Bye."
Ending the call and letting out another sigh she headed towards the kitchen. She was deep in thought before Denki brought her back to the present.
"Are you okay? You went quiet."
She wasn't okay. Her parents fought a lot, but she didn't want to be by herself all the time. She felt lonely and her parents seem to be becoming even more distant than they already were. Tears started to form in the corner of her eyes as she tried to hold them back. She quickly forced a smile to answer the boy standing next to her.
"Huh? Yeah, I'm fine. My parents are just going out of town for a while. I'll be home alone for a month. It's fine though. I know how to take care of myself."
Denki could easily see the hurt on the girl's features. He realized that she had been trying to hide how she really felt from her parents and her friends. He walked over to her and wrapped her in a warm hug.
"It's okay if you're not fine. They might not be here, but I am. I'm not planning on going anywhere. Okay, Sunshine?"
Y/N could feel herself relax and start to let down her brave front. She started crying into his shoulder. She felt weak crying over something trivial, but feeling alone constantly had worn her down over time. She never talked to Tsu about how she felt. She didn't want to be a burden to her friend.
"Let's order take out and watch a movie, yeah?"
Denki suggested she go take a shower, and he would order dinner. After they both cleaned up from sparring, they sat on the couch to watch a movie. Y/N was laying against the electric blonde curled into a ball at his side as he had his hand wrapped around her waist.
"Denki?"
The blonde bent down and gave Y/N a soft kiss on her head and then rested his chin where he kissed her after. He felt comfortable with her in his arms and he wanted to protect this girl who had been negatively affected emotionally by her parent's neglect.
"Yes, Sunshine?"
She smiled softly at him on the other side of the couch.
"Thank you."
She wasn't alone anymore.
