Why Can't I Know?

As usual, the bar was quiet when Denki entered. Looking around he saw that Kurogiri was at his typical spot behind the counter. He was cleaning a glass and he gave Denki a nod in recognition of his arrival.

Shigaraki was sitting on the stool closest to the wall playing with his deck of cards. There was a glass of amber liquor sitting beside him.

"Ah, Kaminari. I'm glad you could make it," the blue-haired male states.

Denki scoffed at the greeting.

"You didn't really give me a choice. You know you don't always have to threaten to kill me. I always show up," he replies.

"It's more fun this way."

Shigaraki put his playing cards down and resumed speaking.

"Have you found anything about the training camp?"

This was the top priority at the moment for the group. They needed to know as much information as possible. Denki had been trying to eavesdrop and find anything in Aizawa's desk at school. During lunch, his teacher was usually dragged away by Present Mic to the teacher's lounge and it gave the blonde a perfect opening to snoop.

"I know that the location is super sensitive this year. I overheard from the teacher's lounge that only a select few know where it's at. I won't be able to get the location beforehand it seems, but no worries. I'm awesome and one of my quirk's many benefits is being a human GPS."

Shigaraki rolled his eyes. Kaminaris chipper attitude made him want to throw up some times.

"Anything else we might find important?"

Denki thinks about the documents he rummaged through. It was mostly assignments they had turned in, but he did something of interest. It was an agenda from a staff meeting.

"I was looking through Aizawa's desk and found some information regarding finals. As long as we pass the written then we can go to camp."

Shigaraki scratches his neck in thought.

"What happens if you fail the practical?"

"It sounds awful. They have to sit in a room away from everyone else in the evenings and take extra classes. I haven't found a schedule of events, and I'm not sure I'll be able to."

The blonde cringed at the thought of extra classes. He had heard that the training during the day would be a lot. Having to then concentrate into the late hours of the evening didn't sound appealing. The idea of missing out on any of the more fun evening activities also wasn't appealing.

"Fail your practical."

Denki's face deadpans as he processes the words Shigarkai had just spoken.

"Why?" he asked.

Shigaraki raises a brow and tilts his head.

"I told you the League is planning something. I need you to be away from everything happening. They'll expect you to fight at some point. I don't need your quirk attacking our side. Don't interfere and don't question. Just do it."

Denki was curious as to what the plan was exactly. He still hadn't been given any details.

"What exactly is the overall goal for the summer camp?" Denki asked.

Scratching his neck Shigaraki looked at the blonde.

"It's not time for you to know," he responds.

That wasn't the answer Denki was looking for. He wanted something more concrete.

"Why can't I know?"

Looking at the blonde his boss shows no emotion as he responds.

"Because you're a non-playable character right now. I'll tell you more when you need to know," he replies.

He was irritated to be asked to fail an exam and not being told what was going on. Then he thought of his girlfriend. What was the expectation with her?

"What about L/N?" the blonde asked with indifference in his tone.

He didn't want Shigaraki to think he had feelings for her, but he would still need to know what his plan was for her.

"I would prefer that she passed and was with the other students when we make our move."

That bothered Denki for a moment. He didn't like this.

"Why does it matter if she passes or not. It'd make more sense that she stayed close to me," Denki tried to reason.

Denki could see the cracks that appeared around Shigarki's mouth as his mouth formed a smirk. The straw-blonde felt unsettled unsure what his boss was thinking.

"Don't worry, Kaminari. She's on my no-kill list," he replied.

This did not make Denki feel better. He knows that there is a difference between don't kill and don't harm. She could still be seriously injured. Unfortunately, he knew that he couldn't say anything. This would show emotion towards his girlfriend and Shigaraki would know that she could be used against him if need be. He was still unaware that the light blue-haired male had already noticed his feelings at their last meeting.

"Speaking of your girlfriend. What was her reaction to the Stain video? I'm curious."

Denki felt hesitant to give his response and kicked himself for bringing her up. The less they discussed her the better.

"She agrees that system is flawed but doesn't believe that violence is the answer."

Shigaraki thinks quietly about the response. He could work with that opinion. The fact that she understood the world wasn't as rosy as it appeared was enough for him. He felt he could make his upcoming plan work.

"It's a better response than I thought you would get. She's not as gullible as some of the black and white idiots in your class."

Denki could tell that his boss was pleased with his answer and that made him more nervous. He knew that it meant that he was expected to continue to try and convert her. He still hadn't changed his position. He was still trying to stall and find a solution, but he couldn't hold off forever.

"I think that's all the information for now. You can go, Kaminari."

Being dismissed Denki wasted no time walking out of the bar. He felt a weight lift off his chest when he stepped into the world and felt a gust of wind.

It was odd because when he first joined with Shigaraki meeting up felt invigorating. He felt like he was making a difference. The more time he spent there though the more he felt like he couldn't wait to leave. It was like his body was trying to warn him that he was becoming too involved.

Ignoring the feeling, Denki made his way to his house. He needed to go over his notes one more time before his written exam tomorrow. Then on Friday would be the practical portion. Even though Shigaraki wants Y/N to pass the practical part of him is still telling him to try and sabotage her exam. The only problem is that he's not sure that's something he could even do. The only thing he could a the moment was to play the situation by ear and hope for the best.
