Found Her

Slowly opening his eyes Denki feels a pain in his jaw. His body feels stiff, and he's not quite sure where he was at. He smells disinfectant like he was at a hospital or a doctor's office. As he started to adjust to his surroundings, memories of what happened before he was knocked out started to surface. He remembered fighting Y/N. He remembered being angry for being ignored all day. He realized he must be in Recovery Girl's office.

"Hey man. I'm glad to see you moving. You really got your ass handed to you by Y/N."

Groaning Denki looks towards a ravenette haired boy who had a smirk on his face.

"Hi Sero. I take it I didn't win?"

Sero snickered in response.

"Absolutely, not. She said something to you and you just stood there. Y/N kicked you in the face and knocked you out. She was crying when she walked out of the arena. She was upset for some reason."

Denki felt his heart drop. He remembered the tears that were streaming down her face. He didn't like seeing Y/N cry. Especially, when he was partly at fault.

"Yeah, it was pretty heated. Have you seen her since?"

The electric blonde wanted to talk about what happened. He had gotten an idea of why she was avoiding him, but he wanted to make sure he got all the facts.

"Well, she's fighting Lida right now. You've been out for quite a while."

Looking up at the TV in Recovery Girl's office he can see Y/N throwing a couple of fireballs towards Lida. Lida was able to dodge them and moves to get behind Y/N. Looking at the screen Denki can see Y/N's face. She's distracted and has a look of sadness in her eyes. Lida places his hands on her shoulders and activates his recipro burst pushing Y/N out of bounds. It looks like she put up a decent fight, but Lida was just too fast.

Moving out of the bed Denki makes his way out of the office with Sero.

"I'm going to go find Y/N. You can go ahead without me," Denki states to his friend.

Sero gives a nod and heads back towards the stands. Denki makes his way to the exit he saw Y/N leave by hoping to catch her.

Worry was all he felt. He remembered the brief description of Y/N's dream. It must have felt pretty real if she felt the need to avoid him for most of the day. He continues to walk down the corridor when he looks towards one of the arena tunnels. He sees someone sitting on the ground with their knees pulled towards their chest. Their head is resting on their knees with h/c hair resting around their shoulders.

"Found her," Denki says out loud to himself.

The straw-colored blonde makes his way down the tunnel and takes a seat next to Y/N. His back is against the wall and his forearms rest on his knees. He looks over to the girl who is silent and continuing to look forward not making eye contact with the new visitor next to her. She was staring into space and he wasn't even sure she knew he was there until she started to speak.

"I'm sorry, Denki."

He was surprised. He wasn't expecting an apology, and he half expected her to still be mad. He was glad to see that she was ready to talk.

"I'm sorry, too. I was an asshole earlier. I shouldn't have said half the things I did. I was so frustrated that I just wanted you to acknowledge my existence. Even if it meant pissing you off."

He looked over towards Y/N trying to see her reaction. What he saw were a pair of e/c eyes looking back at him. It was the first time today she had made meaningful eye contact with him. He felt a sense of relief start to takeover.

"I should have talked to you sooner and told you what was going on. I was being a child, and it wasn't fair to you."

Denki still needed to get the whole picture. His memories from their fight were still a bit fuzzy.

"So, now that we've apologized can you please tell me again what's been going on. Our fight was a bit too chaotic to try and process what you were saying. Not to mention the whole being knocked unconscious."

Y/N knew she owed this to him, and she realizes that this person sitting next to her is not the same person that was in her dream. He was simply her friend who had she had grown to know over the last two weeks.

"Well, I had a nightmare last night. I was here at the festival. I had just seen Todoroki beat Sero oddly enough. I started to make my way to my fight. I was in the tunnel and I saw you. I asked what you were doing, and you were off. You had a bad vibe to you. Then you started saying these weird things. You were only hanging out with me because you were using me. You said I was pathetic. I was slammed against a wall and you said I should have never trusted you."

Guilt was what Denki was feeling after the recap of Y/N's nightmare. Pure, unadulterated guilt. She had every right to avoid him. Hell, she should still be avoiding him. Her dream wasn't wrong about what his intentions with her were when he started getting closer to her.

"I'm so sorry. The way I acted earlier. I made this ten times worse," Denki stated with sincerity.

Denki did not what he should do at this point. It felt wrong to try and continue to be close with the h/c haired girl next to him, but he also wanted to protect her. Yes, this started as something artificial for him. He understood there are a lot of issues with potentially continuing with this path, but he didn't care. The blonde enjoyed being around Y/N, and he hated to see her hurt. The events of the day made him realize that seeing her like that was something he couldn't handle.

Y/N sighed as she responded.

"We both acted like idiots. I think we're good now, though. I feel better that we've talked. I don't feel scared anymore."

Denki smiled at the h/c haired girl next to him. He was relieved to be able to move past this.

"How about we go out after school? I think we need to relax after the day we've had. I'll take you to get some ice cream to apologize for the things I said."

Y/N's face lit up like a Christmas tree. Ice cream was a weakness and she was overjoyed with the thought.

"That's a great idea, but you don't have to buy. I can pay form myself."

The straw-haired blonde shook his head no as he responded.

"No way, Sunshine. This is my way of apologizing. I'm more at fault here than you. I took my anger out on you and that's not fair. I think Kirishima would say it wouldn't be manly if I didn't pay."

Y/N snorted at the response. She could see the toothy redhead saying the exact words to Denki. She appreciated the blonde's respect for Kirishima's code of manliness.

"Fine, but only because I don't want to disappoint Kirishima and his ethics."

The couple laughed at the conversation. They both felt the tension wash away as their relationship was restored. Denki stood up and offered a hand towards Y/N to help her stand. The blonde didn't remove his hand from the girl beside him after she was on her feet but continued to hold it. He gave her a reassuring squeeze that she was safe with him. Y/N looked over to Denki and gave a bright smile as they made their way out of the tunnel and back to the stands to finish watching the tournament together.
