"Happy Birthday Ellie!" I said looking towards the door hoping she'd come in. My girl turned one. I wondered if my parents were celebrating Ellie's birthday or my death anniversary. What a difficult choice for my parents, but they must be celebrating Ellie's birthday because Ellie is all they cared of. I am not angry with them; I am just upset that they gave up on me very easily.
It's already one year since that accident. The day, my mom and dad got a newly born daughter and lost the another one. The day a beautiful couple lost their lives, the day a beautiful family lost their existence and the day four best friends got separated. A beautiful a yet tragic day!
"Rest in Peace Bunny, Aunt Elsa and uncle Ron." I looked up at the sky and said.
Abigail and I have been living together from one year. We eat, we dance, we sleep, we make fun of each other, we help each other. We do everything a living being does, except going out and being visible. It's just me who doesn't go out, Abigail goes out to work (help the souls) and to get the food. I don't know where the food comes from, but I am fine as long as I get something to eat.
One year wasn't easy. I missed my family; I missed my Ellie. Each day starts with the hope of meeting Ellie and ends with the hope of meeting Ellie the next day. Somedays I break down and somedays I just control myself. To keep me busy Abigail brought a pen and a diary for me and suggested to write things. The diary only visible for us. Abigail said writing down our feeling gives us inner peace. And she was right.
Talking about Abigail, she pretends to be all happy and cool from outside but deep inside I know she is also sad and broken. I have found her crying alone so many times. Every time I ask her the reason, she lies saying she feels bad for wandering souls and changes the topic. I choose to believe her lie instead of forcing her to tell the truth. Her story is still a mystery, still a closed book. She prefers to suffer alone. I wonder what is hurting her so much. But I believe one day she will open up and tell me everything.
One of the strange things is, in this one year no human being has come in this house. No idea why! Maybe people know two ghosts live inside lol! Jokes apart, but seriously I was expecting some tenants, not because I want to live with human beings but because this house is too beautiful to be left vacant.
"What are you thinking of?" Abigail brought me back to reality patting on my shoulder.
"When did you arrive?" I asked, I didn't see her coming.
"Like 15 minutes ago, when you were busy day dreaming." She laughed and sat down beside me on the bed.
"Anyway, did it go well?" I asked her.
"It's always hard to send someone very young to afterlife." She sighed; I could see the pain in her eyes.
"A little girl of 4 years old, died in her mother's lap. She wasn't ready to leave her mom. It broke my heart to see her like that. I couldn't send her to afterlife all by herself so I asked my friends (souls like Abigail) to take her there." Abigail said in a low voice. I felt the sadness in her voice.
"Why didn't you take her to afterlife by yourself.?" I asked her for like nth time.
"I have no access to afterlife." She replied for the nth time.
"If yours friends can why can't you?" I asked again, knowing she wouldn't say anything.
"Luna, I told you not to ask this." She was irritated like always.
"Okay okay" I replied, as always.
"Was it hard a year ago?" I asked out of blue.
"What?" She asked knowing what I meant.
