Chapter 44: Untangling The Tangled Ties

"The 80th couple is Liam and Ellie" P said, shocking me which made me look at Ellie, even though I was just looking at her from the time I arrived.

Well, one more shocking thing okay! I should have prepared myself for shocks! First P leaving her car in my home saying I could do anything I like. Second, Ellie wearing Navy Blue gown, like we both are wearing Navy Blue. Now, it all makes sense why P forced me to wear Navy blue. But maybe Ellie paired up with someone named Liam. It's not like I'm the only one Liam in the entire college.

"Li! Ellie" P called us again as none of us walked to the place where couples were standing.

Ellie looked equally shocked. I had no idea what was happening, maybe P filled the form for us.

"Please go to the other side." P added, smiling ear to ear.

I slowly walked towards Ellie and forwarded my hand. Ellie smiled and held my hand. Well, one more shock, I was expecting a scold from her. We both then walked on the next side where all the couples were standing.

"Why did you write my name?" Ellie whispered, faking a smile at the audience.

"Hello? Why do you think I wrote your name?" I turned to her. What does this girl think of herself?

"Because your partner ran away." She let out a laugh. Well, I cannot deny it was cute.

What? Is she crazy?

"Just accept it that you wrote my name because you wanted to pair up with me." I added, even though I knew it wasn't her who wrote our name.

"Why'd I want to pair with you?" She smirked.

"Ladies and gentlemen! Let us explain the rule of the game." P announced, stopping us from starting a world war.

1. The first round will be "Our most memorable memory". In this the couples will have to share their most memorable moment they spent together, only 40 couples will be selected for round two. Let me make it clear, the evaluation will be done on the basis of presentation skill and connection with each other and the emotion in the story. And a twist, only one will be given a chance to speak, the couple will decide who'll present their most special moment. You all are given 15 minutes for preparation. And your time starts in 3 2 1!" P said and left the stage.

Ellie and I are not even having a decent conversation, how will we decide? All the couples have started talking with each other, some are even writing things on a paper.

"I wonder who wrote our names!" Ellie said, looking at the stage.

"Isn't it obvious?" I laughed.

"You don't have to laugh!" She said, which made my heart so cold.

"Guys!" P came running to us.

"What?" I was angry at her.

"I'm so sorry, I did this to you guys. But let it slide I will explain everything later. The time is running please perform well. All the best." P said, hugging Ellie and me.

"Let's talk after this." Ellie said, breaking the hug. She seemed so upset, maybe she never wanted to pair with me.

"Sure Darling." P smiled and left as someone called her.

"You want to present our story?" Ellie asked, getting on my nerves. Why is she doing this when she doesn't even want to?

"No!" I rudely answered.

"Fine!" She said in the disappointed tone.

We stood like a statue until the preparation time was over. I should probably leave; it'll be better than embarrassing each other.
