"Oo nga! I'm so excited! Imagine, we will support two candidates! Sure win ang crown!" Cindy exclaimed excitedly!
It's a relief that Cindy and Ash were both happy for it. Sana lang pati si Thea.
"Thea!" masiglang bati ni Ash nang dumating si Thea. "Guess what, kasali rin si Trixie sa Mr. and Ms. STI Tagaytay!" balita agad ni Ash.
Hindi nakaligtas sa paningin ko ang pagka-gulat sa mukha ni Thea. It feels really wrong to compete with your friend but I knew gow much I wanted to join this competion. This has been one of my target even during my first year here in STI.
"Exciting right? Oh! So we need two posters for the two queens!" sabi ni Cindy. " Don't you worry guys, kami ni Ash ang bahala. 'Di na ako aabsent sa event!" she added that made us all laugh.
"So, you're going to join the pageant again, Trix?" Thea asked while frowning.
"Uhm... I backed out last year since naging busy ako so... I decided to join this year's instead," paliwanag ko. She nodded. Yet, she doesn't look satisfied with my answer.
"Hey guys, I gotta go na. I might be late from my next class. Terror pa naman 'yung prof ko," paalam ni Ash. Kinindatan n'ya muna kami bago tuluyang umalis.
Oo nga, malapit na pala matapos ang lunch break. Ilang sandali lang ay nagpaalam na rin ako kila Thea at Cindy.
"Mauna na ako, ah. Malapit na rin next class ko. Bye Thea! Cindy!" Tinanguan lang ako ni Thea.
"Sige bye, Trix!" paalam ni Cin.
Mag aala-sinko na ng hapon natapos ang huling klase ko. Papunta ako sa pilahan ng taxi nang nakita ko si Altair. Ngayon ko lang ulit siya nakita dahil sa hectic schedules. Nagkikita naman kami sa daan pero hanggang ngitian lang. Tinawag ko siya at nilingon niya naman ako.
"Altair!" pinuntahan niya ako. I don't if it's just me or what but I find him hot even by just doing abosolutely nothing. Wearing a black hoodie on top of his uniform, he looks so attractive. Lutang na lutang siya kahit pa ang daming estudyante sa paligid.
"Saan ka sasakay? Mag-isa ka lang?" tanong niya.
"Ah oo, nauna na kasi yung mga kaibigan ko. Diyan lang ako sa may terminal sasakay," sagot ko sabay turo sa terminal. Hindi na rin kasi ako nagpasundo kay Kuya dahil busy siya ngayon sa office.
"Doon din ako sasakay, sabayan na kita." Nginitian ko siya at tumango. Ang gentleman naman! Minsan lang 'to kaya susulitin ko na. Madalas kasi ay seryoso lang siya. Bihira nga siya ngumiti, eh!
Sinimulan na namin maglakad patungo sa terminal. I was on the outer area of the sidewalk when he moved to my other side. I am now on the inner sidewalk. I subtly smiled.
Tahimik lang kami habang naglalakad. Tanging mga ingay ng freshmen lang ang maririnig. I'm not used to silence so I initiated the conversation.
"So, architure ka pala?" I said even though I knew it even from the start.
Hmm, engineering ako. Sakto! We can be partners in the future. I giggled with my thinking.
"Yes." Ay ang cold talaga! Nahiya na tuloy ako dumaldal.
Nakasakay na kami ng taxi. Sandali lang naman ang magiging byahe dahil wala ng traffic. Mauuna akong bumaba sa kanya ng kaunti dahil mas malayo ang kanila.
Nang matanaw ko na ang bahay namin ay pinatabi ko na ang taxi sa driver.
"Bye Altair! Thank you sa pagsabay, ingat ka!" paalam ko sa kanya.
"Sige, mauna na 'ko," saad niya bago senyasan ang driver na umalis na.
Pag-kauwi ay dumiretso na ako sa kuwarto ko. Agad naman akong nakatulog dala na rin ng pagod.
It was almost 7pm when I woke up. I went downstairs to eat dinner and tell mom about the pageant. I'm sure she will be happy since she likes me joining competitions.
"Mom, I will be joining Mr. and Ms. STI pala for the upcoming foundation day," I told mom after dinner.
"Oh great! Let me contact our designer for your gown and also your makeup artist," she answered while looking for our designer's contact number in her phone.
"Thanks mom!"
"No problem, just don't let it affect your grades, okay? Are we clear on that?" I nodded. Grades na naman, hay.
"I'm sure you'd win the crown," she said and I almost choked.
"W-We're not sure, mom. Especially that Thea will also be one of the candidates. She's good you know," I mumbled while looking down. Mommy wants me to always be on top.
"Whose Thea?" her brows furrowed. "My friend, mom. Thea Cruz." Her eyes widened. Is there something wrong?
"You're friends with that girl! How?" 'di makapaniwalang saad ni mommy. Bakit? Anong meron kay Thea?
"That girl is a granddaughter of the Gallos. His grandfather, Rodolfo Gallo was your grandpa's rival in all aspects. From college to masters and up until now. They always contest with each other.
"You should not let her win the crown, Trixie. You are a Dixon, remember that. Never let a Gallo win over you." seryosong tinig niya.
"Mommy, Thea is nice. I don't think of her as my enemy, she's my friend." I tried to calm her down.
"That's not my point, Trixie. My point is that she might use you to get informations from our family. She may be a Cruz now because of her father pero may dugong Gallo pa rin siya. Keep in mind that blood will always be thicker than water," Mommy answered.
No! I shouldn't think of it that way! We might not be as close as I am to Cindy but she's my friend. Our grandparents might be mortal rivals but we aren't!
But what if Thea thinks the opposite? What if she thinks of me as her enemy?
Is it really fine to befriend her?
Fuck! Bakit ba kasi 'di ko agad naisip na Gallo nga pala ang middle name niya! It looks like I am befriending someone who will betray me in the end.
