Chapter 7
We're not really that close but because of what mom said, it added gap between us. Though, I'm not sure if she knew about this. Parang wala namang issue sa kanya 'yong pagiging Dixon ko at pagiging Gallo niya. It seems like she only cares about the pageant where we are to compete with each other.
"Guys, baka late ako makauwi mamaya, huh. Start na kasi ng practice for the contest."
"Oo nga, ako rin," dugtong ni Thea. Okay lang kaya talaga sa kanya?
"So, magkalaban pa pala tayo ngayon, Trixie," she looked at me. I don't know what she meant by that. Did she meant about the contest? Or baka katulad ng sinasabi ni mommy? Damn, I'm starting to overthink.
"Ah, oo. Sa pageant." I answered. She just nodded and proceed to the court for the practice.
Is that clear?" tanong ng instructor.
But then, it was no one's fault but her.
"Okay, next!"
I showed them my signature walk and everyone clapped. Some students who were watching us also cheered for me. I felt more confident because lf that.
"Okay, that's enough," saway ni Ms. Jaxien. " Very good, Ms. Dixon," puri niya sa'kin. I thanked her for that.
"You did a great job today, Ms. Dixon. Practice pa lang 'yan, what more on sa contest proper. I didn't know you were this good! You're really a Dixon," She tapped my shoulder. Those statements made my heart flutter.
I answered, "Thank you so much for that, Ms. Jaxien! It's really my passion so I always practice to get better and better," sagot ko sa kanya habang nakangiti.
"Ate Jaxien na lang. I am just a year older than you. Anyways, mauna na 'ko. Keep it up!" Nagpaalam na rin ako at umalis.
Before I leave the court, I saw Thea intently looking at me. Para bang may masama siyang binabalak o iniisip. Maybe tama nga si mommy, I should be extra careful with her.
"Trixie, there you are!" mommy greeted me as soon as I arrived.
"Uhm, why mom?" I also noticed na madaming tao sa living room.
"Our designer is here! You will have fittings today for your gown and costume. Malapit na ang contest, you should be ready by now." Oh right! Malapit na nga ang contest.
"Hi, hija. So here our my designs. Pumili ka ng gusto mo but If you don't like any of these, puwede kitang gawan ng gusto mo," Ms. Rose said.
I need three outfits for the contest; for the production number, for the talent portion, and for the Q&A.
