Chapter 40

Words are not enough to explain the intensity of what I am feeling right now. I am finally marrying him! Our rollercoaster was tough and I wasn’t ready for every ups and downs. And at some point, we parted ways, like how the moon and the sun were separated. But now, we are ready to grow together like the eclipse.

“Mom, we are finally engaged!” I almost screamed.

She laughed. “Congratulations, anak. You both deserve it.” She wiped the escaped tears from her eyes. “Altair was too nervous when he asked for our blessing.”

I giggled. “I’m so excited about our wedding! Pwede bang ngayon na?!”

I called everyone for a family dinner. Nagtataka pa nga sila dahil katatapos lang ng celebration for my birthday. I just can’t contain my excitement to announce our engagement.

“Love, papunta na kami nila Mama. Do you want me to bring something?” he asked over the phone.

“Oh, I want blueberry cheesecake, love,” I requested.

“Trixie, hija!” bati ni Tito Geo pagdating. “Are we late? Ang Tita Grace mo kasi, nakalimutan.”

I saw Tita Grace glared at him so I laughed. “Hindi naman po. Tito Ariel and Tita Anne were in the backyard na po.”

Minutes after, dumating na rin sila Altair. He walked straight to my direction and kissed my forehead.

“Vanessa, you’re here! Oh, we have the same shoes!” Nauna pang sumalubong si Mom. They talked about their favorite designer items. I’m really glad that they get along with each other. Nagtatawanan pa sila habang nagbubulungan since they already knew what this dinner for.

As usual, the dinner is filled with fun talks. We also planned for our summer getaway this year.

“What about we go to Laguna hot springs? It’s been years since the last time we went there,” Kuya Rio suggested.

“Ayoko nga. I had bad memories with that place,” sabat naman ni Kuya Zyrus.

His wife glared at him. “Ganoon ba? Do you want to sleep in the living room?”

“Joke lang, babe!”

When we were done eating, I stood up and caught everyone’s attention. “So, Altair and I want to tell you something,” paninimula ko.

Altair stood up too and intertwined my right hand with his. “Well, we are…” He looked at me.

“Pabitin ka naman, Altair!” Kuya Rigs groaned.

I chucked a bit at ganoon din si Altair. “Trixie and I… we were engaged!” he announced.

I raised my left hand to show my engagement ring. “We are finally getting married!”

I saw how Tita Shane’s eyes widened and it took her a few moments to process everything. “Oh my gosh! Congratulations to both of you!”

They were shocked but happy at the same time.

“Sana all kasal,” sambit ni Kuya Rio.

“Sus, bagal mo kasi!”

My soon to be husband immediately looked for a wedding organizer. I bet he’s as excited as me. It will be a church wedding as I want to have my first kiss in front of the altar. Right now, we are heading to Ms. Rose for my wedding gown.

“Hello, Trixie! It’s been years since the last time we saw each other,” she greeted. “College ka pa yata no’n. But now, you grew up as a fine lady!’
