Chapter 45: War Ready 🐾

~Hazel's POV~

Today is the day.

Everything has been leading up to this day.

This day was going to happen whether I wanted it to or not.

It's war time and I didn't know how to handle the emotions I was feeling.

"Babe." I heard said from behind me.

"Hmm?" Breaking my gaze from the forest to my mate standing behind me. He stood with his usual attire, grey sweat pants and a white fitted top with his hair up in a bun. He stood with his hands in his pockets, and as fine as he was standing before me, I couldn't ignore the serious expression he had on his face. He was focused and I didn't want to break his focus with my endless worries.

"Are you ready?" He said to me. I faked smirked at him but nodded my head before taking his hand and we headed to Eila's place.

When we arrived, we were met with the whole gang pretty much: Clover and Jeremiah, Sparrow and Cindy, Brent and Constance, Spence, Ervin, Maverick, Usha, Gem, Nova, Evander and June. But no Leo. I hadn't seen him since our last kiss and I'm not going to lie, it bothered me.

I'm not the type of chick to just completely exit someone out of my life without at least a decent goodbye. But then again, I suppose that last kiss was his way of saying goodbye to me and then follow it up with dodging me at every turn. I understood....to a certain extent of where he was coming from and why he did the things he did, however, no one say I had to like that sh*t.

I looked over to my husband, trying to hide my concern about Leo, but I didn't dare ask him such a question. Not here. Not now. Before he had a chance to say anything, Eila entered the room.

"Hello everyone. I'm glad you all could make it," she began. She clamped her hands together, holding them closely to her body. She too had a stern look as did everyone else in the room. I guess I was the only one freaking the f**k out about this whole situation.

And rightfully so!

Just thinking about the people gunning for my head gives me anxiety like a mothaf**ker! Lets list them off shall we?

1. Narcissus Corwin.
2. Angelic Corwin.
3. Evelyn Winder
4. Roan aka Red

Hell, I'm sure Narcissus' daddy is probably gunning for me now at this point just like the rest of his lunatic family. Nonetheless, those are some important people in some pretty high places that will be looking for me when that border disappears and I wasn't sure how to feel about it.

A part of me wanted to surrender myself in order to keep the peace between the species, but hell, I know that would break Dom for sure. Besides, I didn't trust the Corwin's in the slightest bit to do the right thing if I were to ever surrender myself and make a deal with them.

"At dusk, the border will be broken and the Zeebrians will bust through it like nobodies business. We have to be ready," Eila said to everyone. "I know I've talked to you all individually with how we can win this war and what the plans our when it comes to your mates. I myself will keep them safe and make sure they are hidden."

But of course that s**t didn't apply to me because like I said, because of whom was going to be trying to look and reach me, I couldn't be held with the rest of the mates. Eila herself personally made a place just for me to be hidden, especially from the eyes of her sister Evelyn. That was out biggest threat to finding me.

"I tried contacting Goddess Amora to find out anything about how to win this war but she has not spoken back to me. I've recieved no more guidance from this point on. It seems as if Goddess Amora has her plan as to how this whole war will pan out - all we have to do is execute the best we can," she continued.
