~Hazel's POV~

Birds chirping
Water flowing
Misty skies

The wind blew on my face and I closed my eyes, leaning my head back. It felt good...so good...too good. It felt so good that I even smiled a little-

-until I heard a low growl.

Though it was low, it sounded close......real close. I opened my eyes and sat up.
Breathing
Breathing
Breathing
Breathing I heard behind me.

Instead of running like I thought to, I slowly turned behind me. I was met with huge brown eyes inches from my face. It's black fur blended perfectly with the night.

There it was. Staring me right in the face again.
I attempted to run but I couldn't. It was almost as if gravity weighed about five-hundred bricks and rested right on my lap.

I begin to freak out. It's one thing to be hunted by a Lion, and it's another when you can't move to try and fight your way out. I begin to shake. My breathing and the thumping of my heart overpowered my ears.

It cocked its head to the side as if it was enjoying the mini meltdown I was having. If almost seemed as if he had something to do with it. After all it was a dream so he could d-

Wait....this is a dream?
This is a dream!!
So why couldn't I wake up yet?

I closed my eyes,
Wake up! Wake up!

"Maybe I don't want you to wake up yet," a voice inside of my head replied.

I opened my eyes to the big cat now laying in front of me. Did he really just replied to me? He actually replied to what's going on in my head?

Oh hell nah!

I shut my eyes as hard as I could,

WAKE UP! WAKE UP! WAKE UP!

The booming sound of its roar, woke me up from the nightmare. I opened my eyes to the white and black walls of the medical room I was inhabiting. I didn't know which nightmare was worse, the dream or my reality.

"You were having a bad dream," a voice startled me from behind.

I looked over at the man named Dominic, my so called "mate." He stood with his back toward me, facing the window.

I looked at his crinkled hair that hung along his back, thinking of a way to divert the conversation and avoid the answer, "Do you ever sleep?"

He paused, "I haven't slept for hundreds of years."

I raised an eyebrow and sat up in the bed, "Why not?"

He paused again, "When you're stuck in that form for so long, it's hard to get any sleep."

I eyed him again, to think that he was or...is one of those beasts himself bothers me, "You're uh....well you're not in that state now. You're human now. You can sleep."

"I can't."

"Why can't you?"

He turned around and faced me, "Because you're still in here."

I shifted uncomfortably a little, "I'm just fine. I fought my way to this point and I'll be just fine when I leave."

He turned away from me again.

"Look, I know you say we're mates or whatever but you don't have to be here. Can't y'all deny the mates or some rule like that?"

He shook his head, "Its not that simple."
