~Hazel's POV~

"Oh Narcissus baby, she is just delicious! Good choice baby!" Angelic said with a toothy grin to her son across the table as she stared at me. I sat on one side of the table with Angelic on one end of the table and Narcissus at the other end.

Initially I wasn't physically able to have a meal with them by myself but per Angelic's command, Evelyn made me drink a potion that gave me false strength to last seven days but I still felt every sting and pain. However, it was more torture for me to sit here between these two lunatics.

"Thank you, mother," he replied. I didn't even bother looking at him at all.

I wasn't sure if Angelic was a lunatic like her son yet, but she has the Corwin last name, that already gave her a seventy percent lunatic raise. She seemed quite happier than her son, always smiling and she spoke like she was singing to the f**king birds or some s**t. It was annoying but sort of refreshing for being in this depressing side of Anipadra.

"She's absolutely stunning despite all of the marks and bruises on her. Why did you do that to her, Narci? I taught you better than that," she scolded.

I heard him sigh in annoyance, "Mother sh-"

"No no no, we shall discuss later," she said as she stuffed another piece of steak in her mouth and what did ya know, the Narcissist actually listened and shut up. I guess I just met one of the few people that Narcissus actually listened to--which was a good but scary thing.

I eyed her with much skepticism. I was internally happy that someone scolded him about his abusive tactics and behavior but I'll be d**ned if I trust this lady either. Time will tell if she actually does live up to her name.

There was a pregnant silence in the room. I didn't want to be there, Narcissus doesn't talk much as it is, so that left Angelic to cut the silence and she indeed did.

"So Hazel dear, we must go wedding dress shopping! I've arranged for us to do so tomorrow. I think it would be a great way to do some mother and daughter bonding," she squealed in excitement but I didn't share the same sentiment.

"You're not my mother," I replied, unaware of how triggering those few words were to me. It wasn't her fault, but facts are facts. I looked over at her, she was surprised but quickly recovered with a smile.

She looked down at her plate, knife and fork in hand as she began to slice into her steak again, "No, surely I'm not your biological mother but you are going to marry my son which means I will be your mother-in-law-"

"By marriage or not, you'll never be my mother," cutting her off.

She tilted her head at me with her usual toothy grin, "We'll see," she said darkly before she happily stuck another piece of steak in her mouth.

She then continued to have a conversation with her son about whatever. I lost interest and didn't care to be apart of anything they discussed, although I'm sure they knew better than to discuss war strategies in front of me. In the meanwhile, I focused in on her and watched her intensely.

This woman clearly had a tick. It flashed for just a moment when I challenged her. It was almost as if she was battling her crazy urges from revealing itself. Yeah, I see where he gets his lunatic antics from and an uneasy feeling burned within me.

The next day was tormenting as f**k. At the crack of a** Angelic happily bounced her a** in the room and woke me up. After she instructed the servants to dress me, she insisted I joined her for breakfast. So there I was, once again barely eating anything, sitting somewhere I didn't want to be.
