Chapter 9: Three Steps Back 🐾

~Third Person~

**Meanwhile Back on the Lienthians Side**

Dominic paced in the room in front of the Lienthian Den committee that consisted of Himself, Leander, Evander, Clover, and four other trusted members. Everyone in the room watched quietly as he paced. He was fearful that the previous events may have put him and Hazel three steps back. He cursed himself for it. He cursed himself for not protecting her better.

Moments later, Clover and two other members behind her came into the room, "How is she, Clo?"

She froze, "Uh Nic, don't you think we should talk about that after the meeting?"

"No I don't. I want to know how she is now."

"No Nic, I don't th-"

"NOW!" He growled, his eyes flashing in between his Lion and human form.

Everyone watched quietly at the exchange between Dominic and Clover. Clover was shocked that he would raise his voice at her in front of the small group. She closed her mouth and pressed her lips in a thin line, holding in her frustration.

"She's going to be fine, Beta. She just passed out. She's resting now," she replied in harshly tone.

His eyes remained in his human form, "Good now have a seat," he said ignoring the shot Clover was clearly trying to throw. That would be something he would address later but now it was all about their next move.

"Let's get started everyone," Dominic said and everyone readjusted in their seats, ready for the meeting to begin. "Someone in this room explain to me, what happened."

"The Zeebríans apparently found out Leo was awake and planned a secret attack to kill him," Nova explained.

"Do we have a number of how many of them were there?" Dominic asked.

"I counted at least one hundred. Ninety-five percentage of them looked like they were young Zeebríans. Only a select few were seasoned and they lead the assault," Mave replied.

"All but two Zeebríans were killed, those two escaped. Twenty of our own died as well," Evander added.

"How the hell did they even get in the gates?" Dominic asked.

"Yo no sè, there was someone there in the front but obviously weren't doing their job," Evander replied.

"That's the problem, we all as a species have gotten to comfortable. That's unacceptable! I want to see that member personally and I want that gate remade with gold, since we know they can be killed by it, of not slowed down."

"I'll attend to it right away," Evander replied.

"Next, Clover how is Leo doing?"

"Still sound asleep--he was unbothered. Although Usha suspects he will awake soon," Clover replied.

"How do you suspect that, Usha?"

"I've been studying different sleeping patterns for years, Beta. His movement has sped up from every ten hours to every two hours. I'm confident he will awake within the next two to five weeks," she replied.

"We all know why they attacked when they did, right?" Gem asked.

"Of course, they know Leo is awake but Narcissus hasn't fully defrosted yet," Dominic replied.

"They're scared as f**k," Mave added.

"As they should be. Especially now that Alpha, Beta and Delta are awake," Nova added.
