~Hazel's POV~

Today was the day!

Today was the day that I walk into the police department to clear my name. Callie sent a car and a group of people to escort me to whoever I needed to go. They have all agreed and signed a NDA before they were able to work for her in my case. The last thing I need is any leaks to the vultures.

Dominic decided to come with me for extra protection and I hadn't seen Leander since the day before. I didn't give much thought to the night before, I couldn't really decipher whether the whole situation was a dream or reality. But I decided that it was a dream and I tried my best to forget about it.

Dominic and I sat in the back of the SUV. I decided to wear big shades to cover the worry in my eyes. I was nervous as f**k. I wasn't sure what for, it's not like I was being the one looked at as a suspect in my disappearance, but I also didn't want the narrative to seem like I pulled a Jussie Smollett. Don't know what I mean? Google it!

Anything could happen, and I was preparing for the worst. I felt a hand grasp my leg, stopping it from my nervous shaking. The warmth from the hand automatically told me that it was the hand of my mate. I tore my blank stare from the beautiful day outside the window to the beautiful man sitting next to me.

He curled his lips into a small smile, "It'll be just fine, minou." His hand went from my thigh to my hand and held onto it. He always knew when and how to calm and I appreciate him so much for it, especially during this anxiety filled time.

Wrapping my other hand around our gathered hands, "Thank you for everything, Dom. I can't thank you enough for going through this with me."

He replied with a small but sweet kiss to my lips, "No, minou thank you for sharing these hard times with me."

I know it's probably not easy for him to have the woman he says in love with have so much baggage. The fact that he's even dealing with Zaim's and my history being constantly brought up and thrown in his face right now shows a lot about his character and his caring for me.

"We have arrived," the driver said as he came to a stop in front of the building of the LAPD--America's "finest."

I rolled my eyes, if one only knew how much I didn't want to be here. But I got to do what I got to do. I adjusted my shades, making sure they covered most of my face before the door was opened for me and Dominic helped me out of the SUV. The group of the guards surrounded Dom and I as Dom lead me through the doors.

Upon entrance there were four police officers waiting for me in the lobby. I looked around and noticed how no one else inhabited the lobby except for the four deputies.

Where the f**k is everyone?

"Hello officers, my name is Hazel Haynes and I'm here in regarding my disappearance case from about five years ago," I said to the one in the middle.

"Yes Ms. Haynes, we have been expecting you. Please, follow us."

Dom and I did so.

I followed them into an interrogation room. Dom couldn't come in for whatever reason but it didn't matter because I knew with his supernatural hearing, he could hear everything anyway.

I sat in front of the officers and waited for what felt like millions of hours for them to allow me to explain. But instead, all they said was, "Ms. Haynes we appreciate you doing the rightful thing by coming in today to clear your ex-husband's name along with yours."

I mentally rolled my eyes. I couldn't care less about that bastard and all he stood for, but this was the right thing to do. Instead of saying that, I nodded and said, "Certainly."
