~Hazel's POV~
I stared at myself for a long time in the mirror. I was supposed to be getting ready for dinner with Dominic, but obviously I got distracted.
The mirror is a muthaf***er, let me tell ya.
I stared at my hair that naturally curled itself all over my head. It made me think of when I was a little girl. Back then, I never really appreciated the natural curl my hair already had until now. Growing up I was always told that straight hair was the best hair. Since the adolescent years, I had a full set of natural long hair, so when I flat ironed it, I was basically the best thing since sliced bread in the media's eyes.
The industry was so obsessed with my hair, the blogs would have whole segments about the different styles I would wear. Some internet blogs went as far to argue about if my hair were mine or a weave. Then somehow that argument would lead to another. Mainly how "exotic" I looked, whatever the hell that meant--and if I were mixed or not. To me, I was just a regular dark skinned black woman with hazel eyes, never did I think my whole ethnicity would be questioned by the masses.
The nerve of those materialistic a**holes. Who were they to tell me what I am or question who I am?
But you're the same woman that allowed it for five years.
This is true. But since I've been here in Anipadra, there has been some sort of revelation going on with me. There's basically been a life mirror in front of me every since I woke up in this place.
I then moved from my hair down to my slanted shaped eyes that had just a bit of mascara on them. While I waited until Dominic woke up, Clover decided to go buy me a whole collection of makeup. The exact same makeup I was using before. How did she know to get them? Sh**, It beats the hell outta me.
I moved down to my full lips that only my lip gloss, glossed over. I pressed my lips together as I remember all the times I had been teased in school for having full lips. They were never Fantasia big, but bigger than the average person's. Come to think about it, the things I were teased about during my adolescence, were the things I had been glorified for in the media, including my dark skin complexion.
I glanced down at the basic black dress I decided to wear. Not too formal and not to casual. It doesn't scream "I'm a virgin," which I know I far from, but it doesn't scream "I'm wide open for business," either.
After eyeing myself for the fourth time, my mind began to wonder off to mister Alpha Lion himself. It made me think of the slight moment that I felt like we were in another dimension. It's a feeling t-
Wait.
I heard footsteps approaching.I turned around to see Dominic standing in the doorway after knocking on the door. And man was he.......extremely handsome.
Goodness.
I couldn't believe I was his mate, still.
I seriously had to watch myself around this man."You look beautiful," he said.
I smiled and looked down at my dress, "Thank you, you look handsome yourself."
He blushed as well, "Eh, I do what I can, but thank you."
He and I exchanged smiles "Shall we get going?" He asked as he lifted his arm. I nodded and hesitantly wrapped my arm around his.
"It's okay, you don't have to be afraid, I won't bite."
I chuckled at his remark and he and I both walked off to wherever he was taking me.
