CHAPTER FIFTY FOUR: Threat

Azrael

I went inside Yumi's room and found her sitting on her bed and looking outside the window. I cleared my throat so she could notice that I am inside the room.

"Ra-el." she greeted me with her usual smile. Lumapit ako sa kanya and saw her wounds.

"Does it hurt?" I ask her. Yumi looks at her wounds.

"Medyo pero after nila lagyan nung cream nabawasan yung pain. The doctor said it's just superficial burns. How's Yana?"

I look at Yumi's worried face. Labis talaga syang nag-aalala para kay Yana.

"The doctors said that she is fine now but she still needs to stay to check if her lungs are really fine."

Hindi pa rin nawala yung pag-aalala sa mga mata ni Yumi. Yumuko sya at pinagmasdan ang mga kamay nya.

"She's the closest friend I have inside that mansion....No, actually she's the only friend I have. She helped me get out of that cabin. I just don't understand why she didn't followed me out." mahinang sinabi ni Yumi.

"Ano bang ginagawa nyo doon sa cabin?" I ask her.

"We were looking for Tita Sophia's diary about gardening. We found a chest but it was locked so Yana got out to find something that could help us open it. I was left behind then the fire started."

I held Yumi's hand and I felt her getting tensed.

"May narinig ka ba o nakitang kakaiba before the fire started?"

Umiling sya. "All I can remember was the smell of smoke. That's all. Walang sumabog. Walang spark. Just the smoke and the fire." mahinang sagot ni Yumi.

"Think hard Mayumi. Was that really all?" pagpupumilit ko sa kanya. I have a bad feeling about that fire.

Mayumi started to think deeply then after awhile she shook her head.

"Wala talaga Ra-el. I'm scared. What if hindi nailigtas ni Ram si Yana? It would be all my fault. Nagpanic ako. I was stuck there doing nothing to save my own life. If not for Yana I could be dead already."

Isinandig ko sa dibdib ko ang ulo ni Yumi at hinimas ang buhok nya.

"It's not your fault Mayumi." I said to her. I clenched my jaw.

It's somebody else's fault. I'm sure of it.

Yumi suddenly sits up straight and looks at me with wide eyes.

"I think I remember something." she exclaimed.

"Before searching for some keys that could open the chest I smelled something pero di ko na lang pinansin." she started to say.

"Ano yun?"

"I think it was gasoline."

Yana

I slightly opened my eyes and saw the white ceiling. I felt something in my nose. I removed it and found out that it was a nasal canula. Naka oxygen pala ako ngayon.

I scan the whole room but no one is there with me.

Ano bang nangyari?

I close my eyes and tried to clear my mind and rearrange my thoughts.

Oh yes, the fire! I was trapped inside the burning cabin.

I open my eyes and look at my hands.

Where's the diary? Did I leave it there? Tuluyan na ba itong nawala at nasunog?

The door opens and I saw Don Gabriel walking in.
