I went home straight after our night at the police station, exhausted. The sun began to rise on the last day of Spring Break, and I woke up to find I had fallen asleep on my couch. I groaned as I sat up, stretching. That's when I smelled the sweet scent of blueberries coming from my kitchen. I staggered to my feet and dragged myself to the kitchen to find two plates of crepes with blueberries and whipped cream waiting on the table. That's when Isaac walked in from the bathroom, drying his hands on a towel.
"Hey," he said. "Long night?"
I smiled, wrapping my arms around his neck and getting up on my tiptoes to kiss him. "You have no idea."
We sat down next to each other and started to eat as I explained what happened last night.
"It was terrifying. I mean, I could have died if Matt didn't have this stupid crush on me."
"But you're okay now, right?"
"Yeah. I managed to pull out the bullet and now my leg is healed."
"I'm just glad you're okay. Matt was-"
He was cut off when the doorbell rang.
"I'll get it," I told him before he could get up and I walked over to the door. The moment I opened it, Stiles barged in.
"Melody! I am so glad you're okay! I didn't see you after the whole 'Matt' thing and I got worried-" He stopped the moment he saw Isaac. "What's he doing here?"
"Stiles, I can explain-"
"Why in the world is he here?! With you?!"
"I could ask you the same thing," Isaac challenged as the two approached each other.
"Guys-"
"He's part of Derek's pack! Derek!"
"Watch it, Stiles," Isaac warned. "You don't want to get on his bad side, let alone mine."
"I'm already on Derek's bad side and I don't care about you!"
Before the two could rip each other's throat out...more like, Isaac, wripping Stiles' throat out...I stepped in between them and placed one hand on their chests. The tension was thick, let me just say.
"STOP!" They both looked at me. "Can we just...stop...and talk about this?"
"What?" Stiles asked. "What is there to talk about?"
I sighed. "Stiles...I've been trying to tell you this for a while now...Isaac and I... we're together." He looked dumbfounded and I knew this was not going to end well. "We've been together...for a while now...but I never knew how to explain it... to you."
"We're friends!" Stiles exclaimed. "You can tell me anything?"
"And if I told you about Isaac, you would have gotten angry, or jealous, or-"
"All of the above?" Isaac mentioned.
"You have no room to talk," Stiles scowled.
"Enough! Please, will you just...listen!" Silence filled the room. "Thank you. As I was saying, I was scared that if I told you...it would ruin our friendship. And Isaac...I didn't tell you about Stiles and the both of us hanging out...to try and protect what we had now. But honestly, I didn't know what I was doing...because I was scared...to hurt both of you." Tears trickled down my face.
Neither of them said anything. Instead, they just...left. Left me standing there, crying...all alone. I was conflicted...did I make the right choice, or make things worse? I dropped to my knees, and placed my face in my hands. I stayed like this for...who knows how long...almost all day? It was dark out now, and I crawled up to my bedroom and collapsed on my bed...crying myself to sleep.
