Peter roughly tossed me aside, and I landed next to Lydia. I groaned in pain as I sat up, putting pressure on my arm.
"Let's go, Stiles," Peter commanded.
"No. I'm not just letting you leave them here," Stiles protested bravely.
"You don't have a choice, Stiles," Peter said, turning around and raking his claws across my back and I cried out in pain, falling to the turf. "You're coming with me or they'll die, right here, right now."
"Just kill me," Stiles said tearfully. "Look, I don't care anymore."
Peter sighed. "Call your friend. Tell Jackson where they are. That's all you get."
Stiles quickly did so before he followed Peter. Tears poured down my face as the pain increased with movement. Then, I felt my eyes turn purple and I cried a powerful cry and at that moment...the pain was gone. I looked down at my arm, and it was completely healed. I felt my back, and no blood was on my fingers. But it was no time to celebrate. I scotted next to Lydia, grabbing her hand and taking some of her pain.
"Com on, Lydia. Stay with me...please." I spotted movement nearby and I looked up to see Jackson running towards us.
"Jackson!" I cried in relief as he approached. I stood and we embraced immediately.
"Are you okay?" He asked worriedly.
"Yes, yes, I'm fine. But Lydia-"
He quickly picked up Lydia and we ran for the school.
"Help me! Somebody, help! Help me! Get help, please!" Jackson shouted.
Soon enough, and ambulance came, taking Lydia away. I followed them to the hospital, not wanting to leave her side. But of course, the doctors wouldn't let me see her, so I had to wait outside. So, I sat in a chair outside her room when Mrs. McCall saw me.
"Melody? What are you doing here?" she asked.
"My friend got hurt at the formal. I don't know how, but Jackson and I found her covered in blood on the lacrosse field."
"Where's Scott?"
"He's fine. He told me to go."
"I'm so sorry," she replied, bending down to hug me. I began to cry in her arms, embracing the love of a mother I haven't felt for a long time. "Do you need anything?"
"No, I think I'll be okay," I told her.
She nodded before walking away. I remained seated, becoming more anxious the more I waited. I began to bounce my leg until a warm hand was placed on top of it. I looked over to see who touched me and saw Stiles slightly grinning.
"Thank goodness you're alive!" I exclaimed, jumping into his arms. "I was afraid Peter was going to do something to you."
"I'm okay," he replied. "And you look like you didn't even get scratched, besides your ripped dress. How'd you heal so fast?"
"It's a secret," I said with a wink.
"How's Lydia?"
"I don't know. They won't let me see her."
There was a pause.
"We need to find Scott."
"Agreed."
We got up, about to leave the hospital when Jackson intercepted us. "Hey, where are you going?"
"To find Scott."
"You don't have a car."
"I do," I said.
"Here, let me drive. Come on-"
"Look, just because you feel guilty all of a sudden doesn't make it okay, all right? Half of this is still your fault," Stiles blamed.
"Look, I have a car too. Do you want my help or not?"
"All right. Did you bring the Porsche?" Stiles inquired.
"Yeah..."
"Good. I'll drive."
"I'll meet you boys there," I said.
I ran out of the hospital and sped off to the Hale house, not daring to stop. I made it just as Scott was thrown out of a window by Peter, who was completely transformed. I quickly got out of the car, racing in front of the Alpha before he could touch Scott.
"I don't think so," I growled, my eyes glowing.
"So, you're the mysterious purple-eyed wolf? You can't stop me."
"Oh yeah? Watch me," I snarled before succumbing to my white wolf form. I roared at the Alpha, so powerful it knocked him backwards. The moment he hit the ground, I attacked. I bit at him furiously while dodging his claws. But he managed to throw me off in front of him, growling aggressively. I growled in return before staggering to my feet. He lunged at me, but I managed to dodge him, biting at him once more. I was able to do a little more damage before he grabbed me from midair and through me into the ground...hard. I struggled to breath as he chuckled evilly.
"You are no match for an Alpha," he stated, preparing for the final blow.
But before he could, something was tossed at him: a bottle full of a mysterious liquid. He easily caught it when Allison shot an arrow at it and the bottle exploded into flames. Another bottle was thrown at him and the Alpha's entire body was aflame. He attempted to go after Scott and Allison, but I interfered, bulldozing him away. I got badly burnt in the process, but the Alpha staggered away for a moment before collapsing. I turned around, only making it a few steps before I fell to the ground.
"Melody!" Stiles cried, rushing to my side as I turned human again. He gently cradled me in his arms. "Why did you do that?"
"I didn't want...my friends to get hurt," I replied weakly. I closed my eyes, willing my eyes to glow once more before a soothing wave of relief spread throughout my body, healing me completely. I opened my eyes, Stiles helping me up as we walked over to Scott. I noticed Derek approach Peter.
"Wait!" Scott shouted. "You said the cure comes from the one who bit you. Derek, if you do this, I'mdead. her father, her family-what am I supposed to do?"
"You've...already...decided..." I heard Peter mumble to Derek. "I can smell it on you!"
"Wait! No, no! Don't!"
We watched Derek slash Peter's throat. "I'm the Alpha now," Derek said in a distorted voice, his eyes glowing red.
The next day, Scott, Stiles and I decided to visit Lydia. And the only way to do that was to sneak into her room while no one was watching. Thankfully, her room door was already open so we quietly entered. I crouched beside Scott on one side while Stiles was on the other.
"Shut the door," Scott whispered.
Stiles quickly scrambled to his feet, slowly closing the door. It creaked loudly as he pushed and I winced. Finally, the door was shut and he fell to the floor dorkily. I covered a small laugh before we all stood and approached Lydia's side. I slowly lifter her hospital robe, then her bandage. Stiles immediately looked away.
"What?" Stiles said. "Is it completely healed?"
"No," Scott replied.
"Not at all," I added and Stiles carefully looked.
"I don't get it. The doctor said she'd be fine."
"Yeah, but the bite's not healing like it did with me. Which means...she's not a Werewolf."
"Then what is she?"
