I couldn't believe Derek was alive. I was overwhelmed with happiness as I barged into his place and ran to him as he turned around. We embraced in a long, comforting hug and I shed some tears.
"You're alive," I sobbed.
"I told you I would try, didn't I?" he said softly.
We seperated, Derek wiping away some of my tears. "I'm just so happy you're okay."
"Me too."
I sat down on a coach, Cora on one side and Derek on the other. "So, what can you tell me about me? My life I can't remember?"
"Well, to start, you were like the little sister I never had," Cora said, smiling. "I remember you coming over to spend the weekend at our house almost every week. You used to follow me around the house when you were little. We used to call you 'little pup'."
I grinned. "Really?"
"Really. And you were the sweetest thing. Whenever someone was sad or angry, or even in pain, you were there, by their side. I've never understood why you did it, but I assumed it had to do with the color of your eyes. Purple wasn't a werewolf color I was familiar with."
"Me neither," I replied. "What about you? Why haven't you told me we knew each other before?"
"I wasn't completely certain you were the one I knew before. You grew up so much and the fact that you can't remember me made me doubt it wasn't the same Melody," Derek explained. "I cared for you as much as I did with the rest of my family. Our mother absolutely adored you."
"Then...why did she take my memories?"
"It was because of Deucalion. He was trying to convince you to join his pack because of your unique abilities. But our mother knew what you were supposed to become, and Deucalion wasn't going to help you. He wanted your power. She would want me to tell you that you are more powerful than you think, but if you follow a path of darkness, destuction could come to us all."
"What do you mean by that?"
"Darkness always consumes people, making them do bad things. If you ever turned bad..."
"I understand," I interrupted, remembering my nightmare from the cross country trip. "I would be a monster."
"So, what are you? Do you know?" Cora asked, changing the subject.
Before I could answer, my phone buzzed. It was Stiles needing me at the hospital...another buzz...now.
"Sorry, I gotta go," I told the two of them as I got up and left. I drove down to Beacon Hills Memorial Hospital. It wasn't hard to find Stiles since the police were already there. Scott and Stiles was with his dad, as usual.
"No, Dad, they're trying to tell you that it was two seperat kidnappings, okay? Two doctors, both gone."
"So, whose car is this?"
"Dr. Hilyard, the on call doctor," Mrs. McCall replied. "The ER attending is the one that never made it back in."
Sheriff Stilinski sighed. "Let me just focus on getting your story first, all right?"
"Yeah."
"boys, give us a second," he said, not noticing me.
I walked with Scott and Stiles a little ways away. "Two doctors were kidnapped? They have to be sacrifices, right?" I asked quietly.
"Yeah, it's the one Deaton mentioned- Healers," Stiles explained.
"What about Danny?" Scott questioned. "He threw up mistletoe. That's not a coincidence, and if he hadn't been with Ethan, he probably would've died. Danny's not a healer. I-"
