My move to Beacon Hills went as smoothly as it could be. I made myself at home in less than a week. I met with my new boss, Dr. Alan Deaton, who was known as an emissary. Not only was he a healer, but an advisor for supernatural creatures, such as werewolves. His cover as a veterinarian helps him keep an eye on things in town.. He gave me a quick tour of the clinic and of Beacon Hills, which I greatly appreciated. Next, I met with the principal of Beacon Hills High School about my transfer and he was excited to welcome a very high academic, straight A student. At last, I almost felt like I could have a normal life here...almost.
The night before my first day of my sophomore year, I was drawn into the woods once more, catching the familiar scent of the Alpha. I tried to ignore it, needing some sleep tonight, but the sensation was too much to overcome. I left my house, transforming into my black wolf form. I easily followed the trail, running deep into the preserve. Right when the scent was getting stronger, a voice rang out into the woods, startling me.
"Stiles! Wait up!"
I changed course, following the voice instead,, knowing the danger he was in with the Alpha around. It wasn't hard with my keen ears, listening to every step he took among the dry leaves and twigs. Just then, there were more voices and flashlights and I quickly hid behind a tree, transforming into my human form. I peeked around the trunk to see a boy hiding behind another tree ahead, watching the commotion of flashlights. Once they disappeared, he sighed and began to walk away, towards me. I turned back into a wolf and followed him silently. A storm quickly blew in, thunder crashing and lightning illuminating the forest for small moments. The boy began to approach a foggy clearing when the night became dead silent...not a good sign. I watched the boy pull out what looked like an inhaler, about it use it when a herd of spooked deer suddenly stampede towards him. I lost sight of him for a second when the deer headed towards me, but I easily dodged them. Then, I began to sniff around furiously, catching the boy's scent. He had fallen into a ravine nearby, and I slowly approached him.
That's when I heard it. A low growl from a powerful beast. I spotted the Alpha leap for the boy, grabbing him and biting him on the right hip. Before it could do anything else, I leaped into action, knocking the Alpha away from the boy. While the Alpha was stunned, I turned around, nudging the boy to get up and run. When he did so, I quickly followed, running along his side until he was clear of the forest. Then, I turned back, searching for the Alpha, but he was already gone. So I ran home, collapsing on my bed for the night.
The next morning, I got up just as the sun peeked through my blue curtains. I hopped into the shower and got dressed. I wore a pair of blue jean jeggings, a white tunic blouse and a faded blue jean jacket.I let down my newly dyed, long, vanilla creme blonde hair, cascading in curls to my shoulder blades. My hair was originally light brown, but since my "body" wasn't found with the rest of my family, I was considered "missing" from San Francisco. I decided to dye it myself, and it turned out really good, complementing my sapphire blue eyes. I put on some mascara and pale pink lipstick to match my slightly tanned skin. Once I was ready, I went downstairs and made toast with orange marmalade, packed my school bag and walked out the door to drive my brand new white ford mustang, with black silhouettes of running wolves on either side.
When I arrived at school, I got out of my car and began to walk towards the front of the building. I received many stares, but I simply ignored them as I reached the front entrance, where I was to wait for the vice principal to greet me. The school bell rang just as I arrived, and I noticed I wasn't the only new kid. Another girl, with wavy, dark brown hair sat on a bench nearby, finishing up a phone call. I smile, walking over to sit by her.
"Are you new here?" I asked, sitting down next to her as she hung up.
"Yeah. You?"
"Yeah. I'm Melody. Melody Monroe," I said happily, extending my hand out to her. She shook it with a smile.
