I told Tasha that I made plans to go. She stopped by the house as I was packing the rest of my things.
"Girl...you got my blessing and take care of yourself." She said with a big hug.
"St. Francis is a nice hospital, I heard." She replied. " I have a cute apartment...it's close to the beach." I informed her. Laverne's Accord pulled up. Laverne looked radiant. She wore a gray pantsuit and heels. She ran over and hugged us.
"Where you headed?" She asked me. I told her about my move.
"I am glad for you. Keisha, I am sorry about that situation...." Laverne said.
Lydia had got Nia to find Tyrell's passcode. That's when she got access to his stuff.
At once a wave of shame came over me.
"From what I gathered he was just being nice to her." said Tasha.
Laverne nod. "So how was it, Keisha?" asked Laverne. "You was dealing with some young stuff." I laughed uncomfortably.
"Vivian used to brag about his father. So I know...."
I smiled. Wanting to do away with the subject, I replied, "And that's all you need to know."
It was between me and him. Tasha said she had to be at an appointment. She was a part time wedding planner. "It's your son." said Tasha.
"Well who is the girl?" asked Laverne.
"I am actually gaining another son...." I replied.
Nia came over a little later. I made some lemonade and served some cookies.
"Miss Keisha I am sorry..." she apologized. I told her she didn't had to but I have to.
"Did you talk to Ms. James?" I asked. She told me yes. That before Vivian died they worked it out so that she would be seeing her on a regular basis. "Do you still?" I asked not wanting to pry. She smiled and said no.
"I am tempted sometimes but I pray. And I have a boyfriend." she informed me. I rejoiced.
"He's okay. He and Tyrell likes to game a lot. But Tyrell thinks he's cool." I reached across the table and said, " I am glad for you and I want you to keep doing good."
A gloomy look came across her face. "You going?" she asked. I told her yes.
"You know Tyrell was happy when he wasn't with Lydia."
I thought of Nia and what she said. Later that afternoon Tyrell showed up as I was in my driveway.
"So it's true..." Tyrell said looking hurt. I told him that I made plans.
"What about us?" Tyrell asked. I shook my head.
" I should have stopped it." I replied. "I am older." He came closer.
"What if I liked it? I mean I always had a crush on you, Miss Keisha. What if this can be something real..." I smiled.
"I enjoyed every minute of it. But I got you by twenty years, Ty. I can't give you children. I can't give you that life. You will probably end up taking care of me."
There was this look on Tyrell's face. "I don't care... I care for you..." he plead.
My heart sunk. " Go find you a nice young lady, have a good career and lots of beautiful children." I told him.
He grabbed me and kissed me passionately in front of the neighborhood in the driveway.
