"I just started doing it...I mean it made me..feel better.." said Nia one afternoon. We were baking cookies. I read about it in some medical booklets. The cutter in a way was letting out the pain. It was like crying.
"Have you thought about talking to someone?" I asked. Nia said no. There was silence as we put the cookie dough on the sheets.
"This should be more then enough." She replied as she put the pan in the oven. We were baking cookies for the School Drive since she was on the Cheerleading Squad.
"Nia...I know you are under a lot of pressure because of your mother's illness. I want you to talk to someone." I told her. I rinsed my hands off and grabbed my purse.
"I will not tell your mother or anyone but promise me...you will talk to her. I hand out the card to her.
Evelyn James, Psychiatrist. "She's a good friend of mine. And she will help you..." I said. I then embraced her. "And you got me too, Kid."
" Can I get in?" Tyrell came in on us. Nia ran to him. The aura in the house seem to melt from a frozen state. "Cookies!" He exclaimed as he reached to get one from the dish on the counter. I smacked his hand. He gasped.
"Those are for the drive." I told him. " So you staying the weekend?" asked Nia.
"Hello..." said an young woman coming in. She was pretty. Young and Firm. Tyrell introduced her as Lydia. She was like all the women you see on Instagram. Shapely and fit with yards of Brazilian Wavy Hair. I was feeling like I just got kicked in the gut. No, I wasn't supposed to be feeling...jealous or envious. Tyrell's manner seemed forced. " We been dating for two weeks." She explained. She was wearing leggings and an crop top. Not an agreeable ensemble if you want to meet a guy's parents.
But from what I see Lydia was eager. Nia seem to be comfortable with her because she was closer to her age. Nineteen. I put my mind back on the cookies as Nia took the guest to introduce her to Vivian. Tyrell came closer. "So I don't get a hug?" He asked flirting. I laughed and said sarcastically, "What about your little girlfriend?" He came closer. "She is not my girlfriend...she is a stalker. She followed me here." He explained. I laughed loudly. "That must be a hell of a two week date..."
"She crazy...I was trying to be nice...I look up she was riding with me in my car. I told her I had to come home." He explained.
I laughed. " She's pretty ready to meet your family..."
" I don't know why I didn't promise her nothing. We just dated and I look up she was hanging around my dorm and around campus." I looked at him. "She's not a student?" I asked. "Just a stripper some of the guys hired for a Frat Party. I talked to her and now I look up I am a boyfriend by proxy." I laughed. " I feel sorry for her though.." he replied. "So no kiss...no hug?" He asked. I threw an oven mitten at him.
