Jason and Cheryl were late to school, but Cheryl could care less. She took her time walking to her locker, and then to the wrong class.

"Ms. Blossom, I don't have you till third period."

"Fuck me." Cheryl groaned.

"Chop, Chop. Get to the right class, first period is almost over."

"I don't remember asking but I'll go."

The class laughed, and Cheryl walked over to the right class, but she was stopped. "Blossom!" The principle yelled.

"What did I do now?" Cheryl turned around.

"You missed almost all of first period, and now your walking the halls?"

"I was late... and went to the wrong class. I lost my schedule." Cheryl rolled her eyes.

The principle sighed. "Ms. Blossom, you've been here for a few weeks now, you should know your schedule. Come with me."

Cheryl groaned in annoyance. She followed him to his office, and she plopped down, and put her legs on the other chair.

"Do have a legal guardian at home?"

"If you must know, I'm emancipated... so if your thinking about suspending me, I'll probably go home, sleep, or do my own thing." Cheryl lied. I mean technically it was true, just without the legal stuff.

"Ms. Blossom I'm not sure we can tolerate this kind if behavior, do you have any grown up in your life?"

"My social worker. She comes and checks on me every few months but I haven't seen her in a long time." A long time meaning a few years. "Shouldn't you know this, you have like all my files."

A few hours later...

Cheryl was sitting in a class room, alone, when her social worker walked in. "Fuck."  Cheryl said under her breath. She didn't know her principal would actually find her.

"Cheryl, where have you been hiding? And why did you tell your principal your emancipated?"

"I mean, my parents told me themselves they didn't care about me, so I just left. Also, I wasn't going back to foster care. No one wants to have a dumb teenager at their house anyways."

"Cheryl, we can try and get you emancipated, but your parents are off the grid, and for now it's the foster system."

"No, please. You know what happened in my last home, and I'm not going back."

"Those people got their license taken away-"

"But I have a trailer... I worked my ass off to buy it, can I please just stay there."

"Cheryl, you know we can't do that..."

"Why not? I'm better off there, then in a stupid home, who's only letting me live there for money."

"Think about all the stuff that could head your way... Adoption, they could help you get into college-"

"Nope. I'm not going to college. And I'm not getting adopted. I'm happy the way I am."

"Sorry Cheryl, but there's nothing you or I can do... You have 2 more years before you age out, just wait until then."

"Just get the fuck out of here, and leave me alone. I can take care of my self."

"Can I borrow Jason Blossom for a second?" The social worker asked the teacher."

"Yes, go ahead." Jason stood up, and walked out of the classroom, and followed the social worker to a spare room in the office.

"Hey Ms. Wice. I haven't seen you in a while."

"Hi Jason. I wanted to talk to you, because I want to know why your sister, and you were late. Also, your sister is kinda pushing everyone away, and won't talk to us." The social worker informed.

"Oh... About that...." Jason began. "I did something really stupid last night. Hints the bruises and scratches on my face.... Cheryl was up super late taking care of me. She was really tired this morning, fell back asleep when we woke up, and that's why we were late. She was rushing to get things, and forgot her schedule, and when she's tired she forgets things. I guess that's why she went to the wrong class."

"Wait how come you go to class, and she could care less?"

"I don't want too. Cheryl forces me to go. She wants me to have a chance at being successful. She was told by a few people that she's just a charity case, and that she doesn't have chance, so she doesn't try anymore."

"Who told her that?"

"My parents when they were drunk or high, foster homes, north siders." Jason sighed. "She's like my big sister, even though were twins."

"Wow. I didn't know that was the case. I wouldn't of brought up foster homes..."

"Well you know now. Am I aloud to go now?"

"Yes you can..." The social worker went back into the empty classroom, to find no one was there. She found a note on one of the desks.

Got tired, so I left. Jason probably explained, and if you want to rip me away from my trailer where I'm happy be my guest, but that's not what I want. Jason would probably agree, but do what you want.

Love, Cheryl

The social worker sighed. She put the note in her pocket, and left as well.
