Chapter 12

"Why didn't you just tell them?" Mr. Reager asked.

"Because... It's embarrassing and I already get made fun of for living on the south side." Cheryl huffed.

"Oh. Do you want me to drop you off at your trailer?"

"Yes."

When Cheryl was at her trailer, she received a call from Toni.

"Cheryl, where did you go? And not that I want to pressure you into reading to the whole class but what the hell."

"Weatherbee sent me home... and about the reading thing." Cheryl paused. Debating on whether or not to tell her. She gulped before continuing. "I have dyslexia..." She mumbled into the phone, "and I didn't want to embarrass myself."

"Babe, why didn't you tell me first..."

"Because it's embarrassing...."

"Oh, well I wouldn't of made fun of you."

"Yeah, I know."

"I'll see you after school, maybe we could hang out. Catch a movie?"

"Sure. Bye."

"Bye."

Cheryl let out a breath she didn't know she was holding. She plopped on her bed, and slowly began to drift asleep.

Cheryl woke up to someone slapping her in the face. Her eyes shot open, and she saw Toni's step dad standing there. "What the hell are you doing in my trailer, how did you get in?!" Cheryl yelled standing up.

"You leave your spare key under the doormat like an idiot. Anyways, I came to tell you to stay away from Toni. I know she told you some interesting things, and she'll get p-"

"What are you gonna do? Beat her with a paddle again. If you touch her again I swear to go I'll kill you."

"Please." Jeremy laughed. "Stay away, and plus what's a little girl like you gonna do anyways."

"This." Cheryl punched Jeremy in the face, and he didn't hesitate to fight back. They didn't hear Toni walk in, but Jeremy didn't stop. He kept punching, and punching.

"JEREMY STOP!" Toni yelled as she pushed him off of Cheryl. "What the hell."

"He just came here and attacked me." Cheryl said.

"Why the fuck are you stalking my girlfriend." Toni knew she was gonna regret this later.

Jeremy just walked out.

"Are you okay?" Toni asked.

"Yeah, I'm fine, been through worse." Cheryl said as she wiped the blood from her mouth. "I also need to hide my spare key better."

"I'm sorry..."

"For what? You can't control you crazy ass step dad."

Toni just sighed.

Cheryl woke up with her spooning Toni, with her arms wrapped around the brunette's waist. Cheryl didn't even remember falling asleep. She looked over at the alarm clock, and it was already 7 o'clock at night. She looked over and lightly shook Toni. "TT, wake up." Toni just groaned, and rolled over. "Babe, it's 7 already."

"What?" Toni slowly opened her eyes, and turned to face Cheryl. "We were asleep for that long." Cheryl just nodded her head. "Shit, Jeremy's gonna kill me."

"I'd like to see him try."

"I gotta go. See you tomorrow at school?"

"Maybe. Bye." Cheryl pouted. But as much as she wanted her girlfriend to stay, she didn't want her getting in more trouble than she already is.

"Bye, babe." Toni kissed Cheryl goodbye, and headed to her house. The good thing was her mother was already home, so Toni doesn't have to worry about getting beat up.

"Toni where were you?" Her mother asked.

"Cheryl and I fell asleep."

"Your gonna have a tough time falling asleep tonight. I have to leave to catch a flight later, and won't be back till maybe... after you get home from school tomorrow."

"Okay... well, I'm not hungry, so I'll be in my room..." Toni responded. Just as she was about to walk up the stairs, her mother stops her.

"Actually, I was thinking we could have some family time. Like, watch a movie in the theater room."

"I...Well...Sure." Toni sighed as she climbed up the stairs to change, and grab a blanket. She went into the theater room, her mom and Jeremy already there, and sat down.

"What movie should we watch?" Jeremy asked. "The Meg? It's a shark movie..." Jeremy smirked.

"I'm okay with that, Toni?" Violet asked.

"Yeah." she sighed.

Toni was barely awake, she didn't want to fall asleep because then Jeremy would probably move her to her bed, and she didn't want to do that.

She sat there with her eyes closing, feeling like they're getting heavier and heavier. Then opening them once again. She closed her eyes once more, and fell asleep.

"C'mon let's get you to bed." Jeremy yawned while picking her up. Toni opened her eyes, and she was in Jeremy's arms. To tired to do anything about it. He carried her over to her mom, and her mom kissed her on the forehead. Then Jeremy brought her to her room, and placed her on the bed, tucked her in, then left. Toni fell right back asleep.
