Stiles POV
I saw Stassi and she looked so pretty tonight. I felt bad about earlier today and what I said, it's not what I meant, and I felt bad that she was in the cold and I didn't even play. But seeing her in the stands regardless, knowing I wasn't going to meant a lot.
I waited for her text that she was here. I saved her a seat in the booth. I had a feeling she wouldn't be too happy Lydia and Jackson were in the same booth but I hoped that I would make up for it.
Our plans for takeout and staying in were a bust. We both didn't want other people to dictate what we do and force us to miss out on great nights like this.
I heard a crash and it made the whole diner silent.
I looked over my shoulder and I saw Stassi frozen looking into the eyes of one of the waitresses who dropped her tray. They spoke to each other but I couldn't hear what. I just saw their lips moving and the waitresses lip quivered as she held her hand open to her lips.
She grabbed Stassi and they hugged. The waitress rubbed Stassi on the back and placed a hand on the back of her head and Stassi hide her face on the waitresses shoulder.
"Scott. What are they saying?" I asked him.
"Uh.." He said furrowing his eyebrows and concentrating. "She saying she got big and she looks good. Uh..." I assumed he was waiting for more conversation."She's telling her she missed her."
"What's Stassi saying? Anything?" I asked confused about the interaction.
"No. I think she's crying." He said shaking his head.
A few heartbeats later he said, "Stassis apologizing. That she's sorry she's been away and she's sorry for-"
"Everything all good here?" Our waiter asked. We all said yes and he went away.
"What were you saying?" I asked him.
"I didn't catch it. He interrupted it." He said. Of fucking course.
"She said how long it's been. Four years." He said reciting them.I felt bad eavesdropping and invading a bit of her privacy but I worry okay? I don't like to see her cry I just want to make sure she's okay, at the end of the day it's all I care about.
"Stassi just keeps apologizing." Scott said. She wiped her eyes and looked at the waitress. She pointed over to us and the waitress smiled. "She said she's happy." Scott said.
"Who? Stassi?" I questioned and he nodded yes.
That at least made me feel better. Knowing that she's happy.
"She told her she'll call." Scott said. And then Stassi walked over to us and workers began to clean up the mess.
"Hey sorry I'm late." She said sitting next to me.
"That's okay. Time doesn't exist." I said and she smiled.
"So you do listen when I go on tangents about space and time?" She joked.
"From what words I know yes." I said and she laughed.
"I uh ordered you a burger." I said. "I know you like them and it comes with fries and stuff."
"Thank you." She said placing her hand on my leg.
Oh God.I stretched my arm out and put it around her shoulders pulling her a bit closer.
"Here ya go!" Our waiter said placing Stassis food in front of her. Stassi thanked him and of course Lydia had a comment.
"How do you eat like that and stay so skinny? You're not bulimic are you?" She asked picking at her boring salad.
Stassi raised an eyebrow at her and finished chewing.
"No. It's just genetics. Both my parents are small. I've been trying to gain weight though." She said actually nicely.I'm assuming that she gets comments like that all the time, but I never knew girls struggled with being too thin as well. I thought girls wanted to be thin, I stand corrected. I still had a lot to learn. At least I got a good teacher.
"Coach gives us these protein bars for bulking season. Helps pack on the pounds." Jackson said licking his lips at her.
She shifted uncomfortably and giggled.
"I'm afraid you'll poison them." She said laughing. Scott and Allison laughed too and then I think it clicked that she was joking so we all laughed.
"So what's you think of the game Stark?" Jackson asked.
"It was good. Cold out. And you guys did my boy wrong by not putting him in." She said getting more relaxed.
"Maybe next time." Scott said.
