Zahan's pov.
My heart lurched in my throat as they wheeled her in the emergency room. Yasir room tried going after them but they didn't let him near her till completely examined.
"Chacho it's better if you sit down" I said keeping a hand on his shoulder. He looked at me with moist eyes and nodded sitting down on one of the plastic chairs in the hallway.
I tapped my foot on the floor waiting for any response but the doctor was taking too long. My anxiety was shooting up with every passing second waiting for any kind of news.
"How's she?" I snapped out of my thoughts at chacho shooting up from his place. I stood up behind him waiting for the doctor to say anything.
"Not too much to worry about for now but what has happened was an outcome of constant stress and anxiety. She'd be fine once she wakes up, weakness would be the only concern for now. Just keep her away from any emotional stress" the man said.
"Can we meet her?" I found myself asking.
"One at a time. Don't stress her out" he said again before leaving. I sighed and looked at chacho who stood with his shoulders sagged.
"I think you should go meet her first. I'll call ammi and tell her about her condition" I said going out. I breathed in deeply and took out my phone to call Ammi but I was called upon.
"Zahan bhai" someone called me making me look up from my phone.
"Hadiya?" I asked seeing the girl run upto me.
"Where's Zoya? How is she? Why are you out here? Tell me she's alive?" The girl panicked, she took to be near tears when I stopped her.
"She's alright. She's alive and will be better soon" I said making her nod and walk inside before she came back.
"Which.. which room is she in? And what are you doing here? Shouldn't you be with her?" She asked seemingly offended.
"She's in the emergency ward. Yasir chacho is with her." She nodded and left me alone to breath in relief.
After telling Ammi how Zoya was doing and that she will soon be discharged I went back inside. I walked inside hearing the sound of people talking.
"So uncle you're telling me Zahan bhai." Hadiya said looking up at me with narrowed eyes.
"This man is my supposed brother-in-law?" She asked standing beside me making hand gestures.
"Well yes" Chacho said.
She turned towards me and eyed me up and down.
"You better treat her right" she narrowed her eyes making me roll mine.
"Yes ma'am"
"I'm not joking bro like seriously you better treat my daughter right" she said making me raise my eyebrows.
"Daughter? Who's he to her then?" I asked pointing at chacho.
"I don't care about him she's younger to me by six months so she's like my little girl" Hadiya said looking up, quite literally.
I hummed nodding my head looking back at chacho who shrugged.
"Shut up" we three were startled at tht voice that came out hoarse. My eyes turned to the bed where she laid with a scowl on her face.
"Good morning" Hadiya commented making Zoya glare at her from her half open eyes.
"Are you feeling better now?" I asked.
"Who's talking?" She slurred.
"Zahan asked that" chacho said worriedly looking at her.
"My head's numb. I don't know if I'm floating or laying down. Are my eyes even open?" She said pulling her hand up.
"Zahan call a doctor" chacho said worriedly. I nodded and went to the front desk in the ward.
"Doctor Arsalan." The sister there called a man over.
"Yes?" The old man asked.
"Their patient is awake they need assistance" she said making the older man nod.
"I can't even hear my voice. It's so muffled. Baba what's happening?" I heard her saying.
"There's nothing to be worried about. It's the influence of the IV. She'll be back in her senses soon enough" the doctor explained after checking her IV and hearing her complaints.
He left soon after telling us that she'll be soon discharged after the drip is done. I sat outside since they didn't allow more than one person inside with the patient.
"She'll be okay" I heard someone say. I looked up to find Hadiya sitting beside me.
"Yeah" I said staring ahead of me.
"So you're married?" She asked once again making me breathe in deeply.
"Hadiya" I sighed threateningly.
"Okay okay sorry." she rambled. This girl was surely Zoya's friend. Both are annoying.
"You should go home" I said hearing a scoff in reply.
"I can't leave her like this" she said shrugging.
"Chacho and I are here don't worry" I tried to make her leave but she wanted to argue further.
"But—" I glared at her coldly making her nod her head and get up.
"Okay fine. Tell her you were the one who made me leave and that I wanted to stay" she said making me nod and gesture her away. My head was hurting and so was my arm. My body wanted to collapse on my bed and sleep this drowsiness off.
"Zahan" I looked up with blurry eyes at Chacho. I shook my head and cleared my vision and stood up but stumbled forward making him hold me in support.
"You should get your checkup done. You're injured yourself" chacho said making me shake my head but another wave of dizziness had me nodding my head.
My eyes were backing out and I couldn't feel my weight on my own two feet. In the rush of all that's had happened I forgot about my aching arm but now the pain was intensifying ten folds.
The same man from earlier checked my wounds and asked me to get proper stitched and clean up done. I sat on the bed and he asked another doctor to do my stitches. I could care less about what was happening around me as the adrenaline started wearing off I found myself backing out.
On the bed beside hers I let go of my senses and closed my eyes on the present world for a peaceful sleep that I needed....
