"Happy birthday jaana" a sweet woman's voice rang around the beautifully decorated cottage. Ribbons and balloons hung from each corner and wall of the small brick and wooden cottage.
A chorus happy birthdays was sung as the little girl cut the cake. Her green eyes much like her mother's twinkled with so much happiness that one could feel their own sadness washing away while looking at her."Thankyou Mama jaan" the girl hugged her mother after receiving an enormous stuffed doll for her present. Her smile was the widest one could've ever seen.
"It's all for you jaana" her mother spoke. Her green eyes looking at the girl with utmost love and adoration.
"Are you happy with how I decorated the cottage?" The father asked. His brown eyes looking warmly at his only daughter who was better than ten sons for him. The little girl nodded her head affirmatively.
"You're saying as if you did all this on your own Usman" the woman shook her head and rolled her eyes at her husband's behavior. Usman passed her a grin which melted her annoyance away, he took his wife under his arm pulling her close.
"I won't he where I am without your help Mahtab. Everything I have is because of you. I have my Zoya because of you, I'm going to be father again because of you. Thankyou. I love you." he said kissing his wife's forehead lovingly. Zoya gazed at her parents and couldn't help but feel happy for them. They were the ideal example of Cinderella and her prince charming.
The family was enjoying their time happily with laughter and warmth filling the air. The family of three needed no one else to feel complete. Zoya had wanted to celebrate her birthday in the cottage. She wanted her future sibling to see her favourite place and now they were celebrating their time together.
The peace and serenity of the moment broke by loud banging on the door and yelling of people from outside.
"Usman" Mahtab looked at her husband scared, Zoya huddled against him almost hiding in his side.
"Take Zoya with you and hide in the vault till I tell you to come out."
"But Usman—"
"Go..." He said pushing his wife and daughter away as they slowly unsurely walked backwards towards where the vault was. It was like safety chamber for them.
After the women were out of his sight he brought out his gun and pointed it towards the door.
"Who's there?"
"Open up barrister. You think you can play around with Khan and get away with it" with one last push the door was slammed open.
Khan. A name know well for illegal mafia businesses. He was the man against whom Usman had just won a case. He was sentenced to death for sex trafficking, smuggling of weapons. It was risk but for the sake of his country's safety something had to be done.
"Khan will be out soon but what will happen to you barrister. You shall die along with your pretty little family" the man spoke tilting his head and grinning like a devil.
"Search the house. I've heard he has a beautiful wife and a young daughter they'll be a good catch" the man spoke and two of his men came forward to search the house but Usman shot them.
"Don't you dare take my wife's and daughter's name from you filthy tongue" he yelled shooting the men who fired at him but he luckily dodged it.
