Zoya's pov.
I ran up to my room with my hand on my cheek.
'What just happened?!" I asked myself. That was an unexpected way of him thanking me, it's probably nothing. He just got overly excited.
I opened the door to my room and walked inside. Locking the door behind me I tossed my cap on the little cabinet placed to my left. Walking further and crossing the wall of blinds, I took off my hoodie leaving me behind in a black sports bra. I tossed my hoodie on the cage like a swing chair hanging to the left all the way across the bed and walked to my bathroom while tying my hair in a messy bun.
Shedding my clothes on the blush pink tiled floor I did my business before getting in the bathtub. Warm water calmed my aching nerves as I closed my feelings and let loose of the stress and sudden headache. I sunk my head under water as my dark vision turned gray.
"Usman!!"
"You all must face your death!"
"No!! Zoya!!"
My eyes shot open as I came out of the water. Gasping and gulping the air down to my lungs. I felt the warmness of the water leave and turn cold against my body. The shrieks of a woman filled my ears as my blurred vision came back to its accuracy.
I got out of the water and wrapped myself in a towel. I stood before the round mirror staring at myself. I winced as a sudden pain shot through my brain making me fall to my knees clutching my head. Blood rushed in my veins as my ears ring with her painful cries making me cup my ears.
"Stop!" I whispered out to no one in particular.
"Hide here. Don't come out"
"Leave me!!"
"What do you want from us?!"
Images of a cottage stormed my mind. A woman. A man. And a team of armed men. Fire. Violent yelling. Smoke and pain all sent cold tremors down my spine. I rocked myself back and forth wrapping my arms around my knees curling my body.
This was increasing as frightening images of two bodies lying in dirt filled my mind, then it all turned black. My ears ring with a siren of silence making me scream out loud. I screamed clutching my head in my hands, for once I was thankful for having a soundproof room. I felt lightheaded. I leaned back against the glass door of the shower and breathed heavily. My lungs felt constricted. It was getting hard to pass air through them.
My hands shook. They visibly trembled as numbness seeped through my arms making me hit my hands against the tiled floor in an attempt to feel anything. My body jolted with a sudden burst of adrenaline. I kicked my legs to get rid of the sudden energy surging through my body. My hand clenched and unclenched and shook as I tried to stop myself from hitting anything.
It was a panic attack. The last I had was four years ago because of the same reason. Minahil and her friends thought it would be funny to lock me in a dark room. I was waiting for them in the main hall since they wanted to watch movies. They never came but the lights went off, scary and loud noises filled the room making my heart rate shoot up.
I was scared. The screams made me hear the screams of the women yelling at someone to run. I had fainted after the sounds got louder and the cries grew intense. I didn't know what happened afterwards but ever since that day these nightmares haven't left me and turned me insomniac.
I felt my body getting lighter and the pain subsiding. I got up with the help of the counter and trotted out of the bathroom. Wearing blue silk shorts with a matching singlet I dragged my exhausted body to my bed and fell on it.
