Zoya's pov.

Everything was a blur as it slipped out of my sight. Every fetter that I was holding for peace was slowly bruising my own hand. It was clenching my lungs making it a heavier chore to breathe.

I see her everyday, I can feel her staring at me from across the room, she has tried to approach me multiple times but I can't let her get hurt anymore. She's my dearest friend and I've already caused enough damage to her life. Her engagement was broken right after the people found out about the attack on her. It was nothing more than a few men beating her and her brother.

Her ribs were fractured, it wasn't what I had thought but the picture shown to me made me believe she had been—

The misunderstanding was bigger than the truth and everyone believed what the wind carried with it. Hadiya was banned to meet me, for a whole week she didn't even attend university. This whole thing was making her skip exams, something she had been working so hard for and I've ruined everything.

She worked harder than me and I've ruined it for her. I would've not given my exams but her constant messages and pleading made me go.

"Don't you fucking dare to ruin your future for me. Don't you dare, Zoya. I won't ever forgive you if you gave up on your dream for me. I won't. I want bright marks and that damned medal that we'd been looking forward for"

My eyes watered and it dropped down on the screen while I stared at the message i last received before her number blocked me. It was her mother I know.

The car stopped infront of our company. The building shining bright against the rays of the sun. Thanking the driver I walked inside, greeting the receptionist.

It's been weeks since I even left my room. I hadn't been able to see past the cloud of regret in my sight. I didn't see the day turning into the glorious night, nor the spring turning into heated summers.
