"What? Yes, I have my niece, why does it matter officer?" My aunt played it cool. I put down my rag and peered around the wall blocking my site of the door clearly.
"We have gotten distressed calls saying that she was being abused?" The officer said as he hooked his thumbs in his belt. My eyes traveled down to the weapons on his belt, hoping he would pull one on her, so she would spill.
"Who would say that?" She laughed nervously. I slowly crept up behind her, not catching either of their attentions. I kept walking until the police officer spotted me.
"Hi there sweetie! How are you doing?" His tone of voice softened. Aunt Jess looked back at me and smiled a fake smile while putting her arm around me.
"Tell him how you're doing sweet pea! Tell him how you love your life here, right?" I could feel her eyes burning through me and her nails sinking into my shoulder. I didn't answer though. I looked around the front yard taking in the scene in front of me. It looked like a murder scene. There were a bunch of cop cars and a black van.
"Well?" My aunt was getting impatient. I looked up into the officers eyes, his smile fading. I nodded gently, confirming his suspicisons. I tore my eyes away from his and he looked back at my aunt. In that moment I spotted the best sight of my existance. Mint green hair.
"MICHAEL!" I screeched and tore away from my aunts grip. I pushed aside the police officer and ran towards the pale boy. He turned around and opened his arms up for me. I jumped into his arms, clung to his neck for my life, and wrapped my legs around his waist, making him take a few steps back. I couldn't help but start sobbing happy tears into his neck.
"Oh my god, Laur," He squealed in my ear while stroking my hair and kissing my forehead.
"LAUREN!" I heard Ashton, Calum, and Luke all scream in unison before piliing on to Mikey and I. We all grouped hugged and they all kissed my head as we all cried. This is what the sliver of hope was for. To hold me out to this moment.
"You fucking called them!?" My aunt trudged towards us, knowing she was already busted. Michael put me down and the four boys stood in front of me, blocking my aunts way to me. The police were quick to handcuff her and tell her, her Miranda Rights.
"Please tell me you're alright," Ashton turned around and crouched down, grabbing my face and staring into my eyes.
"I'm actually not sure," I said quietly.
"C'mon sweetie, we're going to get your stuff packed. You're going back with them." My face lit up with glee as I followed the police officer into the house, the boys following like lost puppies. They gaped at the house and I led them all up to my bedroom. Luke grabbed my suitcase as the other three started going through drawers. I grabbed all my clothes from the closet and put them in the suitcase. I then ran down the hallway and retrieved my phone from my aunts room.
"Did you sleep with these everynight?" Michael asked as I walked in the room. He was holding the flannel, beanie, and Cuddles.
"Not every night, I tried not to sleep with Cuddles because I didn't want the constant pain in my chest," I said as I grabbed them out of his hands.
"Cuddles?" Ashton looked at me.
"Yeah, that's what I named the puppy," I earned a smile from Calum.
"And you're still wearing the locket!" Luke pointed out.
"Why wouldn't I be," I laughed gently. I put the beanie and flannel in the suitcase but kept Cuddles close to my chest.
"You know we missed a show for you?" Calum said as we walked out of the awful house.
"I don't regret it," Ashton linked our arms together. All the boys agreed with Ashton as we climbed in the van. I was sat in the way back with Ashton while Luke and Mikey got the middle, leaving Calum the front seat. Ashton took Cuddles from my grip and inspected him.
