It was a warm, late spring afternoon. It was tuesday, around 4pm, and classes had already ended. Ukraine walked down the hallway, heading to the school's rooftop. Canada had asked him to go there after school. Why? Ukraine had no idea. He hummed a soft tune as he walked, keeping his hands in his jeans pockets.
After a few minutes of walking, the Ukrainian pushed open the heavy, metal door, being greeted by a warm gust of wind. He smiled to himself, glancing around. He made his way to a spot that he and Canada favored. They spent a lot of time there together.
"Hey, Nada!" Ukraine smiled, giving a friendly wave, which Canada happily returned.
"Hello there, Ukie." The Canadian smiled softly. On the outside, Canada seemed normal. He was handsome, had good grades and was a very kind, outgoing person. Under that facade laid a messed up individual, capable of doing things too horrible to name.
"You said you had something to tell me?" Ukraine sat down on the bench, next to Canada. He gazed up at the Canadian, his eyes filled with curiosity.
"Yes, i did. I just....Erm-" Canada cut himself off, trying to come with with the right words. Truth is, he had feelings for Ukraine. It had been like love at first sight. Some say that such a thing doesn't exist, but ever since he first laid eyes on the Ukrainian, he couldn't help but to feel at peace. To feel loved and appreciated... To feel normal.
"..You see- i- uhm-..." A blush creeped onto his face as he looked down at Ukraine, who stared back at him with great interest.
"..Ever since we first met, i-...i- i've had deep feelings for you... I've-... I've never felt this way towards anyone else.." The Canadian spoke softly, scratching the back of his neck out of nervousness.
Ukraine's happy expression turned into a one of pity and remorse as he listened closely to the other's words.
"Nada..." Ukraine mumbled softly, gently placing his hand over Canada's, which rested on the bench. He looked down, unsure of how to respond without hurting the other man's feelings.
"...Im sorry, but-....but i already have feelings for someone else... I- I hope you understand." The Ukrainian said with a soft sigh, staring down at the ground.
Canada's nervous smile dropped instantly. What? Feelings for someone else? What kind of bullshit was this?! Canada has had these feelings towards Ukraine for so, so long- he's waited this long to confess, only to get a response like this? He growled softly under his breath, shaking his head. He forced a smile onto his face, glancing down at the other.
"Ah.. That's alright. May i ask who you have feelings for? Just want to know who's the lucky guy." Canada said, trying to keep himself together. He shuffled a bit closer to Ukraine, putting his arm around the other, holding him close.
Deep down, the Canadian was boiling with anger. How dare someone stand between them?! He'll make them pay- God he'll make them fucking pay. No one could ever appreciate Ukraine the way Canada appreciated him. No one.
"Oh- Uhm- Promise you won't think im weird?" Ukraine asked, looking up at the other.
"Of course." Canada responded immediately.
"Well- You know the guy from class 3-2? Uhm- his name is Poland-!" Ukraine whimpered out, covering his face. He felt embarrassed about having a crush on Poland, but he felt even more embarrassed about admitting that to someone.
"Whaaat? Him? Ukie, he's a-" Canada got cut off by Ukraine.
"Yes! He's a jerk, i knowww- But-! I can't help it-!" Ukraine whined softly. His face was red with embarrassment, and he felt flustered. Ukraine and Poland didn't even know each other. Well... Poland didn't even know Ukraine. The Ukrainian, however, knew quite a lot about Poland. No, he wasn't a stalker.. He just liked to scroll through social media, just to see what Poland was up to and what he liked.
"Of course you can't. It's getting late, Ukie. We should head home." Canada forced yet another smile onto his face, standing up. Ukraine stood up as well, looking off to the side, over the rooftops fence. Rumor has it, the fence was put in place because a string of suicides occurred, in the same spot, at the same time. Some might say it was murder, but there was no evidence to back it up.
The two males headed back into the building and down the stairs, to the exit. Not a single word had been exchanged between them durning the whole walk there, which was... Quite odd, actually. They always talked and talked, with Ukraine being the one to uphold the conversation most of the time.
"Would you like me to walk you home?" Canada asked. Even if Ukraine said no, the Canadian would still follow him home. He always followed Ukraine to his house, just to make sure he got home safely.
"Im not a child, Nadaaaa-! I can walk home on my own!" Ukraine whined rather playfully, crossing his arms. He looked up at Nada, a small smile creeping into his face.
"Right, right. With your personality and height, it's hard to remember that." Canada teased, chuckling softly.
"Excuse me??" Ukraine let out an offended gasp. No, he wasn't really offended... Maybe a little-
"You heard me." Canada smiled, patting the shorter man's head.
After a while of playful back and forth 'arguing' between Canada and Ukraine, they had to go their separate ways. Ukraine walked off to the right, and after a bit of a distance had been put inbetween them, Canada followed. But... Ukraine didn't seem to be following his usual route home...
