After a long, agonizing car ride, the car came to a stop at a gas station. It did not look like anything fancy, and the only thing that surrounded it were thick trees and a single, rundown road. They hadn't passed a single car since they turned onto this road. It gave Ukraine an eerie feeling.

"Do you want anything to drink or eat?" The woman asked in a kind tone, flashing the other a smile behind her mask. Ukraine hesitated, but nodded. "Cool. What would you like?" She asked.

Ukraine stood silent for a moment, before finally speaking up. "...Pepsi...?...And-....Erm... Chips...?" He suggested, hesitantly. He gave the woman a nervous smile. "Ah, alrighty. I'll be back from in a minute, okay?" She said with a smile. The woman killed the engine and stepped out of the car, gently closing the door behind herself.

Ukraine watched her walk off, and the moment she was out of sight, the Ukrainian tried to figure out a way to escape. He could just- get out of the car and run into the gas station-? No- that would out the cashier at risk. He didn't want anyone to get hurt... He looked around the car for anything sharp he could use to cut the ropes.

The keys. Surprisingly. They were still in the ignition. He shuffled over to the empty space between the front seats and carefully climbed into the passenger seat. Ukraine turned his back to the steering wheel and pushed himself against it, his hands desperately searching for the keys. Bingo. He made sure to act quick as he pulled the keys out of the ignition and started to work away at the ropes, anxiety and adrenaline filling his mind.

Fuck, it was taking too long- Ukraine turned around and attempted to climb back into the backseat, only to stumble and fall face first against the back of the seat. He whimpered in pain, but didn't hesitate to get back up and shove himself against the seat he had been sitting in previously. The Ukrainian held the keys in his hand tightly, so the keychains wouldn't clink and give him away.

A minute or two later, the car door opened and the woman climbed into the driver's side of the car. "Here, i got your things. I'll stop by the road to help you drink." She said, attempting to turn on the ignition, only to find the keys missing. "Huh-?" She huffed in confusion, tilting her head to look at the empty space that was the ignition. "...I can swear i left them here..." The woman mumbled under her breath as she patted her pockets, trying to figure out if she had taken the keys with her without realizing it. It had happened once... Or twice-

"...Maybe y- you dropped them s- somewhere...?" Ukraine suggested in a quiet voice, hoping to draw any suspicion away from himself. He continued to work at the thick rope, and he could feel it start to loosen. "That's an odd thing to say for someone in your position." The woman said, looking over at Ukraine. She narrowed her eyes at him, and even though she had shades on, Ukraine could feel her intense gaze. He kept calm, putting on a small, nervous smile. Just for show. "...W- Well-... I- It's either being w- with Canada or b- being with you, an- and i'd much rather b- be with you right now.." Ukraine said with a small sigh.

"Mhmm- alright then.. I'll go look in the gas station." She mumbled, steppung outside of the car. As soon as Ukraine was sure that she couldnt see what he was doing in the car, he began to violently pull at the ropes, in the hopes of ripping them. Sure enough, a few tugs in, the rope snapped in half and his hands were free. Ukraine immediately grabbed the severed rope and shoved it underneath the passengers side seat, before throwing the keys onto the ground, underneath the steering wheel, to make them look like they were dropped.

The Ukrainian felt dread as he heard the car door being opened, so he quickly hid his hands behind his back, to make it look like they were still tied.

"I couldn't find th- oh. I-...Man, how didn't i notice them?" The woman mumbled to herself, leaning down, grabbing the keys. Ukraine just chuckled awkwardly, leaning back in his seat, letting out a small sigh of relief that the woman wasn't suspicious. He needed to figure out what to do next... Right now, they were in the middle of nowhere without any civilization anywhere near. Ukraine knew he couldn't live off of soda and chips for long, so- his best bet was to wait until they reached a town.
