"..Nnnn...-" America let out a soft groan as he stirred from his slumber. He slowly opened his eyes, turning his head, only to see Canada sitting on the couch by his feet. The American flinched rather hard, immediately sitting up.
"O- Oh- America-! You're awake! Uh- Why are you looking at me like th-" Canada got cut off by a hard kick to his abdomen, making him hiss in pain. Just as America was about to kick him again, Canada grabbed his ankle, gripping it tightly.
"Y- Y- You a- are using MY cabin t- to kidnap p- people?!!" America said, sounding absolutely furious and a little bit scared. How could his sweetheart of a brother do such a thing! "Y- You lied to m- me!" America tried to put on an angry expression, but he couldn't help but to look absolutely mortified.
"...What are you talking about?? Where did you get THAT from??" Canada asked, sounding genuinely confused and weirded out by America's words.
"Don't pl- play dumb with me! I- I heard- I heard THEM!!" America hissed, trying to pull his leg back.
"Did you hit your head or something?? I picked you up, drove you here and you fell asleep in the car! I thought it would be rude to wake you up, so i just carried you inside!" Canada explained. There was this look in his eyes that America recognized damn well. The Canadian was telling the truth.. Why else would Canada look so- oblivious and confused?
"O- Ow... My head- hurts-" America whined, rubbing the back of his head. "Oh- yeah- that... That was my fault-! I accidentally bumped into the wall while carrying you- you hit your head pretty hard." Canada let out an awkward laugh, letting go of America's foot. America gave the Canadian a skeptical look. "And that didn't wake me up...?" America asked, sounding rather suspicious.
"Oh no, man. For a moment i thought you were dead, Meri!" Canada chuckled, leaning closer to America, giving him a pat on the shoulder. "Oh-! And i made you some tea! So we could- ya know, just sit and catch up. We didn't really get to talk much in the cafe, so i thought it would be nice to just have some- family bonding time, ya know?" Canada said with a smile, picking up the two cups of tea. He handed one to America, keeping the other one to himself.
"...Yeah... B- But- didn't you say you wanted something from me...?" America asked, still being very confused about this whole thing. He didn't remember being picked up by Canada.. Oh well, he doubted that Canada was lying. He knew his brother better than anyone, and yes, there were times when Canada got himself caught up with the wrong crowd, but the Canadian was a good person with good intentions.
"Oh, about that! You see- my friend, Ukraine, he ran away from home, and he needs someone to cover his whereabouts. Currently, he's with me in the cabin, as i told you durning the car ride." Canada explained, taking a sip from his cup of tea. He looked over at America, examining his expression closely, trying to tell if America believed him or not.
"Ukraine-?? Wasn't he on the news as a missing person-?" America asked, staring at his younger brother in absolute shock.
"Yes, he was. They think someone kidnapped him, which couldn't be further from the truth! Honestly! If they took a look at his home life, they would understand why he ran away." The Canadian sighed. Fuck. This might be a lot more complicated than he had thought it would be..
"Now, covering his tracks would be beneficial for both of us. Technically, this cabin belongs to you, correct?" Canada asked. America nodded a little bit, unsure of what Canada was getting at. "Exactly. How could a young boy with no transport, no money and absolutely no connection to you get so far away, to your cabin, in such a small amount of time? If they found him here, it would make you look real bad, Meri." The Canadian gave a soft smile.
"Are you say-" America got cut off. "I'm not saying anything that you think i am. I need you to frame someone for kidnapping, and possibly even murdering him, so Ukraine can go live his own life, free of his abusive family." Canada stared deep into America's eyes. The Canadian's eyes expressed honesty and desperation, but this was anything but that. He had gotten very good at faking emotions, since it came in very useful durning situations like these.
"...It's a lot like you and father. I don't want Ukraine to go through what you went through, because knowing USSR, he'll never let Ukraine off the hook so easily! I just want what's best for him.." Canada said in a rather quiet tone, looking down at the coffee table that sat in front of him.
"I-..." America started talking, but the words died down in his throat. The American had clawed his way out of the house at age 15, because Britain always saw him as nothing but a burden.. or... Well... Someone to take advantage of. To manipulate. He felt- touched by Canada's determination to help a friend in need... It wasn't the first time America had done shady business. The money was worth it. This time, though, this was about much more than just the money. This time, it was about helping someone in need. Someone who has been suffering from abuse and neglect. Someone who America could help save!
America hesitated.
"...I'm in."
