The Ukrainian groaned as he finally regained consciousness. His eyes slowly fluttered open, his stomach dropping when he saw Canada sitting next to him, staring down at him with a worried look. "Oh! Y- You're finally awake, dear. I was starting to get really worried, love." Canada said, sounding genuinely remorseful. He cupped Ukraine's cheeks and leaned down to give the smaller male a kiss on the forehead.
Ukraine didn't resist, just closing his eyes instead. Once Canada let go of his face, the Ukrainian attempted to sit up, letting out a cry as intense pain shot through his stomach, forcing him to lay back down. "Dear! Please, lay down. You have to rest." The Canadian said, placing a gentle, caring hand on the other's stomach, hoping that would be enough to discourage Ukraine from trying to get up.
"....Wh...where's....America..." Ukraine mumbled, his mind feeling a bit foggy. Yes. That was the first question that came to mind, and Ukraine was genuinely worried about America. So much so, that he completely forgot to worry about himself.
"Right there." Canada said, pointing to the ground, right next to the bed. Ukraine gave the Canadian a skeptical look, before gently shifting to look down.
Indeed, there, on a spare mattress, laid America. He seemed to still be unconscious. He had been stripped down to his boxers, his leg and stomach being covered with bloody bandages. Ukraine's otherwise neutral look turned into one of relief as he saw America breathing. The Ukrainian winced, laying back down onto his back. God- Ukraine just now noticed that he himself was shirtless, his stomach being covered with crimson stained bandages. That... That explained the intense pain.
"Are you feeling okay, dear? Would you like something to eat or drink?" Canada asked in a caring voice, which made Ukraine feel sick to his stomach. How dared Canada shoot the two of them, drag them back to this hellhole and act all nice and sweet?!.....Still, Ukraine didn't have enough energy to argue.
"...T- Tea, please..." Ukraine mumbled, closing his eyes once again, trying to relax before he managed to say something he'd later regret.
Canada nodded, standing up. He walked over to the bedroom's door and left, closing the door behind himself. As soon as the door was shut, Ukraine mustered up all his strength and rolled over to his stomach, so he'd be closer to the edge of the bed. He held in a cry of pain, desperately grasping the pillow for comfort.
Once the pain seemed to lessen, Ukraine reached his arm out and nudged America, who didn't respond at all. "...A- America- wake up- please-" Ukraine whimpered. He didn't want to be alone, defenseless against that psycho. He once more nudged America, this time getting a groan out of the unconscious American. The Ukrainian paused, sighing. He let his arm dangle down from the bed as he stared down at America with an apologetic, guilt-filled look.
"...I-...Im sorry... I- I should've never dr....dragged you into this mess... You.... You- uhm... You deserve better..." The Ukrainian mumbled, feeling tears form in his eyes. If only Ukraine hadn't been such a pussy, they would've been home by now... If only he had turned back and helped America... If only he had tried to fight off Canada and defend Ame-
".....Mnnnn..." America groaned, stirring from his oh-so-peaceful slumber. He squinted, trying to get his eyes to adjust to the light. After a few moments, his eyes opened completely, before he slowly glanced over at the Ukrainian. "...Oh....Y- You're okay.... Thank god...." The American let out a small sigh, his body relaxing. He had three bullet wounds in his fucking leg and it hurt. A lot. Even then, knowing Ukraine didn't get hurt as much made him feel at peace.
"Im- Im sorry, Ame-" Ukraine whimpered, shuffling even closer to America. "....Hm...? For what...?....You-....You did nothing w- wrong..." America said, once again looking up at the slavic, giving him a small, tired smile. His vision was foggy and he felt lightheaded, but Ukraine didn't need to know that. He didn't want to worry the Ukrainian even more than he already had, apparently. "I- I- I left you- I-...I didn't even-" Ukraine sniffled, but got cut off by America. "You did what i- i told you to do... It's all on me... I foiled our plan, n...not y- you." America said, hasitantly placing his hand over his stomach, letting out a growl of pain.
"B- But-" Ukraine said, wiping the tears from his eyes, trying not to cry. Was it wrong of him to feel at fault for all the damage America suffered because Ukraine couldn't man up and stand up to the Canada? "There was....There was nothing you could've done, U...Ukraine... Stop blaming yourself... Blame Canada." He muttered, gritting his teeth at all the burning pain he felt.
"It....It's best we relax an....and try to come up with something e...else..."
