"UKRAINE!!" Canada practically screamed out, scrambling to his feet. He used the tree for support as he felt himself lose his balance. He looked around. Nothing. Nothing. Canada couldn't help but to growl and curse under his breath as he pushed away from the tree, desperately scanning the nearby trees, hoping to god that Ukraine was just hiding, but, alas, the only time worthy thing he found were footprints in the partial snow leading away from the house. Away from Canada.

"Ukraine! Get back here!" He called out, his voice cracking as his expression soured. Canada ran, following the footsteps, but the feeling of betrayal weighed him down, so much so that he snapped out of his pity party only when his face hit the ground. "..Ukraine-!! Please!" Canada begged, trying to get back up again.

He wasn't weak. He hated being weak- dammit, he just wanted to show his soft side to Ukraine again... He wanted to let Ukraine know that he could be relaxed and off guard around Canada, but look where that led. The Canadian clenched his fists, but not before brushing the dirt and snow off of his clothes. Ukraine didn't even have as much as a coat with him- And god knows how far out in the wilderness they were. What if something happened to Ukraine? What if he-

Canada decided to change plans. He quickly ran back to the backdoor, stumbling inside. "Australia!" He hissed, slamming the door fully open. "Ukraine ran- help me find him, now." The Canadian growled, authority underlining his demand.

"Hgn- fine-!" Australia called back from upstairs. While the woman took her time to get ready, Canada dashed to the front door, grabbing his own coat along with sweater, putting the two on to ensure his own warmth. He shoved his hand into his coat's pocket and as soon as his fingers brushed against the cold metal, he pulled his hand out. "Grab a blanket- he might need it." Canada ordered.
"Can't you just give him a coat?" Australia asked, trotting down the stairs.
"No, i don't have a spare one."
"In the car?"
"I told you before you even drove here, there is nothing in that car worthwhile."
"Fine, fine, let me go fetch it." Australia rolled her eyes, rushing back up the stairs and into Canada's bedroom.

Meanwhile, the canadian put on his scarf and gloves, as they'd probably be out there for a while. Hopefully not, but while they did hope for the best, they had to be prepared for the worst.

Australia came running down the stairs, warm, cozy blanket in hand. "Will this do?" She asked, holding it up. The only response to her question was a nod, which, considering it came from Canada, was an obvious yes. "Come, let's go." Canada huffed, walking back out the door and to the spot him and Ukraine were playing. "He ran that way. While i was distracted." The man grumbled.

"Why didn't you just run after him? You're faster than he is, we both know that." Australia looked up at her brother, who just ignored her. She absolutely hated it when Canada ignored her, but, come now, what else could she expect from that narcasisstic sociopath?

The two of them began running. Australia lagged behind, as she wasn't as determined to find Ukraine as Canada was. Hell, she even hoped that the poor guy had gotten away... but... There was another half of her who did want to find him, not to make sure he was okay, but just for the sake of dragging him back to Canada for what he did. For the way he held that blade to her throat. The way he was willing to sacrifice her life just like that-

After a few minutes, Canada was slowing down, his sprint turning into a jog, then into nothing but a walk. His stamina was great, of course, but- Australia's wasn't. "Why- Hn- Why the slow down?" Australia panted, stopping for a moment, holding onto and using her knees to hold her upper body up. "You're exhausted." Canada replied bluntly. While he did want her to rest a bit, he didn't stop walking. His sister would catch up soon enough.

"Hey, wait up-" She whined, running a bit to catch up with Canada. "Can't." He grumbled, looking down at the ground. It was- weird. The footprints hadn't- how to say- they weren't showing that Ukraine had slowed down at all. It was odd. Surely, he should've gotten exhausted from running by now.

He stopped.

"...Fuck, I'm an idiot." Canada hissed. "Geez- What brought that on?" Australia asked, stopping as well, using this god given opportunity to lean against a tree and rest, panting. Canada was silent for what seemed like forever, but when he finally did speak up, it made Australia's heart drop.

"These footprints aren't his."

...

"What?!" She raised her voice. "How can that be??"
"Look, i don't know-" Canada grumbled.
"What do you mean you don't know?? How do you know they aren't his then, huh?"
"Just look at them."
"They look like normal damn footprints to me!"
"Queen obvious." Canada rolled his eyes. "Look closer. He's short, right? If these were his, that would have to mean he's been running this whole time! He can't do that. Whoever made this must've been tall, and i know for a fact i didn't make these." The man explained, looking back at his sister, who just stared at him like he had two noses. "You're pulling my leg. These must be his! No one else knows this place even exists!" Australia glared, putting her hands on her hips as she stared.

"Grr- just- these footprints aren't even fresh!" Canada snapped. They weren't fresh. Well- they weren't fresh enough to be Ukraine's, but they were so fresh that someone must've been at the house not too long ago.

"I-... Holy- you're right-" Australia couldn't help but to fall silent when she fact checked. "But... If Ukraine didn't go this way, where did he go..?" The lady asked in a quiet tone, looking back the way they had came from.

"I don't know. Maybe he's back at the cabin, who knows. We have to go back- pursuing this isnt priority." Canada said, starting to walk back. "What matters is that someone besides us more likely than not knows Ukraine was here. Once we get Ukraine, we have to pack up and go." He added, feeling yet another fire in his soul. This gave him adrenaline unlike any other, to know he was this close to being caught, to know that he had to be one step ahead at all times, it was awfully thrilling and absolutely addicting.

Australia paused. "What if he isn't there?" She asked, looking up at her brother for direction, which she soon got in a form of an order.

"Then you stay at the cabin, clean up everything, pack up and wait for me to come back with Ukraine."
