Y'all I'm pretty sure Draco has a summer birthday but I'm changing it for the story lolz

- Everyone forgets Draco's birthday, except Harry -

Draco slowly blinked his eyes open and yawned. He stretched, taking a look around the empty dorm. He didn't know if he had been expecting anything, and if so what, but nonetheless it was just the same as yesterday. Draco slugged out of bed and dressed himself as normally. Today was his 16th birthday, and there was nothing to do. His parents weren't huge on celebrating anyway, and all his friends had gone away for the holidays. Usually his birthday was some 'Happy Birthday' greetings from his friends or maybe even some candy, or a care package from mother and father. Just a slightly above average day. Draco wasn't upset about the not receiving, he was upset that nobody cared.

Draco poked at his breakfast food that morning, not being hungry even for his favorites. Owls began to swoop in, delivering the mail. Draco had a glimmer of hope he may receive a letter from his parents at least, but no luck. He sighed and pushed his food away. He just wanted today to be over already.

He lay half awake in his bed, after a day of napping and maybe a bit of crying. The sun was setting, signaling that it was time for dinner soon. Draco figured he should go eat, his stomach was grumbling a bit throughout the day.

Draco trudged into the great hall and sat himself down, alone. He added a couple items of food to his plate, willing himself to eat it. He was stabbing at the food with his fork when he heard footsteps getting closer. He looked up to find Harry Potter standing right next to him.

"Hi" Harry greeted cheerily. He gestured to the spot next to Draco. "May I?" Draco nodded and Harry took a seat. The blonde flushed, as he had a bit of a crush on the boy. Fine, a lot of a crush. He stared at Harry expectantly, waiting for him to speak.

"Well, happy birthday!" Harry exclaimed, to Draco's surprise. The blonde stared back blankly, wondering what was happening. He blinked.

"Er, thanks." He said, smiling weakly. The other boy beamed and cleared his throat.

"I got you something." He said nervously, placing two wrapped packages on the table. Draco stared in disbelief.

"Why? I mean thank you, but I've never given you something for your birthday." Draco said sheepishly.

"Well, I overheard that you were staying for the holidays and your friends weren't. Nobody should be alone on their birthday." He said softly. Draco's heart almost burst and he leaned forward, wrapping his arms around the other boy in a tight embrace. Harry was jolted with surprise but quickly hugged back, allowing the blonde to bury his face in the crook of his neck. They sat there enjoying the embrace for maybe a little too long until Draco felt eyes on him and awkwardly pulled away. 

"Don't get too excited, you might still hate it." Harry joked, trying to clear the tension. Draco smiled and turned his attention to the gifts.

"Which should I open first?" He asked, beaming at the dark haired boy. Harry thought about it very hard before deciding. 

"This one." He said confidently, pushing the bulkier gift towards the blonde. Draco took it into his hands, carefully unfolding the paper, not wanting to seem to eager.

"It's just wrapping paper Draco, you can rip it if you want." Harry said with a chuckle.

"It's very lovely wrapping paper and a fine wrapping job, I'm just appreciating your effort." The Slytherin explained, causing Harry's cheeks to flush. The wrapping paper really was lovely. It was a shimmery silver, which happened to be Draco's favorite color. It seemed of high quality. He peeled off the rest of the paper to reveal a box of cauldron cakes. His favorite, again. Draco grinned.
