- Draco isn't able to attend the yule ball with Harry (takes place in 6th year) -

It was dinner time, and Draco and Harry were laid down on a couch in the room of requirement. They'd been dating secretly for nearly a year, but since it was a secret they couldn't spend time together like this too often. The only people who knew were Ron, Hermione, Blaise and Pansy. It wasn't that they were ashamed or embarrassed, but both boys were in the closet still. Harry figured that it would be no big deal if he came out, he just wasn't entirely ready for the world to know. Draco on the other hand, couldn't tell anyone. He wasn't sure about his mother, but his father was thoroughly unsupportive and Draco didn't know what he would do if his father were to find out. So, they hid it from everyone. (Except their close friends, of course.) Draco sighed contently into his boyfriend's chest as Harry's fingers brushed through his light colored hair.

"I wish we could do this more often." Draco said softly. "I wish I got to hold you more than every one or two weeks."

"I know." Harry whispered with a sigh. "I do too. I really wish you could go to the ball with me." He added, kissing the top of Draco's head. The yule ball was next weekend, and Harry would have taken Draco in a heartbeat if not for their unfortunate situation.

"Got any idea of who you're going with?" Draco asked sadly. He knew that Harry was expected to have a date, as one of the four 'champions'.

"I asked Hermione to go as friends, but she's already got a date. Maybe I'll ask Pansy, at least she'll know that I actually mean it when I say as friends." Harry didn't want to lead on some poor girl when he clearly had no interest in them. Draco hummed and closed his eyes, enjoying Harry's warmth.

"I don't think I'm going to go." Draco said quietly. Harry looked at him in confusion.

"Why not? You can ask Pansy if you want, I'm sure someone like Luna would understand-"

"No, it's not that." Draco said, cutting Harry off. "I'll just be too sad that we can't dance together." Harry's heart broke for the boy wrapped in his arms. He squeezed Draco tight.

"We'll be able to dance in front of whoever we want, and cuddle whenever we want to one day. I promise." He said, grasping Draco's hand and kissing the back of it. Tears welled in Draco's eyes but didn't fall.

"I love you."

"I love you too."

It was the night of the ball. Harry and Ron stood in their dorm, fixing their hair and robes. Ron stared at his reflection, aghast at the ugly robes he wore.

"Great, I'm showing up to the ball without a date and in these stupid robes." Ron said, shaking his head. Harry bit back a laugh.

"It's alright Ron, you look quite dashing." He said, unable to hold in a wheeze. Ron smacked him in the arm.

The two boys made their way down to the great hall. Harry scanned the crowd for Pansy and waved when he finally saw her.

"Ron you know I don't want to, but I have to go to the stupid champions dance thing. I'll catch up with you later." He promised. "Maybe you'll find Hermione!" He called over his shoulder, unaware that she would be part of the champions dance too. Harry gave Pansy a small smile.

"Hey." He greeted. Unable to help it he asked, "How's Draco? I didn't see him today." Pansy shook her head sadly.

"I dunno. He hadn't come out of the dorm all day, but Blaise said he's been pretty upset." Harry's heart sank. He wished Draco was here right now.
