- Harry and Draco pretend to date for Hermione's ultimatum -

Dinner began as normal that day. Harry sat down and was greeted by his friends, Ron and Hermione. They were having a perfectly pleasant conversation when Hermione changed he subject.

"You know Harry, you're running out of time." She stated, taking another bite of food. Harry blinked, racking his brain.

"Time for what?" He questioned, not thinking much of it. Hermione rolled her eyes. "There's one week left of the month, and you promised six whole months ago that if you weren't dating somebody by now, we could set you up with Ginny." His stomach dropped. He had completely forgotten about this deal. "Idiot!" He thought to himself. Harry didn't want to date Ginny! Hermione wasn't trying to force being straight on him or anything because she knew he was bisexual, but he had a preference for men! Ginny was sweet, but just not the one for him.

"Oh! That." He chuckled nervously. Panicked, he blurted out, "Well I'm already dating somebody now!" Hermione's fork clattered to her plate and Ron froze mid-bite of chicken. Hermione swallowed her food.

"YOU WHAT?" Ron and Hermione shouted in unison, turning the attention of a few others at the table.

"Why didn't you tell us, Harry? Who is it?" She questioned with surprise. Harry felt like an idiot. He hadn't even thought that far. I guess that's why he's in Gryffindor and not Ravenclaw. Harry's eyes darted around the room and he blurted out the first name associated with a relationship in his mind,

"Malfoy!" He spat. "Er, I mean Draco!" Ron's eyes widened and he looked absolutely plucked. Harry stared at his two friends who remained frozen in shock. He blushed deeply, tearing his eyes away.

"You... he... I... you..." Ron stuttered. Harry was a little annoyed, considering he did have a slight crush on the blonde. Hermione spoke first.

"How long has this been going on? Why didn't you tell us?" She said. Harry cleared his throat.

"Um, we've been dating for two weeks. I didn't tell you because we were just figuring it out and didn't want too many people to know yet. We only just decided it was okay to tell our friends, I was gonna get to it eventually." He explained, fidgeting uncomfortably. Hermione nodded slowly.

"Okay. I'm happy for you Harry, don't look so embarrassed." She teased. He smiled slightly. "We were just surprised." She said, elbowing Ron in the arm. "Weren't we, Ronald?" She asked sternly. Ron shook himself out of his stunned state and grinned.

"Yeah Harry, I was just a bit shocked. I would never have thought of you and Malfoy, but as long as he makes you happy. If you're happy, I'm happy." He said, taking another bite of his chicken. Harry breathed out a sigh of relief. He knew his friends were supportive because he came out long ago, but it was just nice to hear it again. Hermione narrowed her eyes.

"You guys don't act like boyfriends. Is that because it was a secret?" Stupidly, Harry nodded his head. "So you'll be more boyfriend-y now that we know?" She contested. Again, stupidly, Harry nodded. He mentally facepalmed as he realized his mistake. No! How could they act boyfriend-y if they weren't actually dating? Harry saw the blonde exiting the hall out of the corner of his eye.

"Well actually, I promised him that we would meet after dinner. Gotta go!" He said quickly, excusing himself from the table and leaving in a hurry after the blonde. Hermione's brow furrowed. There was something off about this.

Harry caught up to the blonde who was walking with his friend Blaise. The Gryffindor tapped the boy on the  shoulder. Draco turned, his brow raised.

"Potter?" He questioned.

"Er, can I talk to you for a minute?" He eyed Blaise. "Alone, please?" The two Slytherins made brief eye contact and Zabini shot the taller a knowing look, saying goodbye and heading to the dorms. The two boys walked in silence to an empty corridor.

"What is it, Potter?" Draco asked, confused. Harry launched into explanation about Hermione's ultimatum, not wanting to date Ginny, panicking, and telling his friends that he was dating Draco on a impulse.

"So basically, would you pretend to be my boyfriend for just a short while? Please? Then we can fake break up and Hermione will get off my back about dating!" He finished, out of breath. Draco cocked his brow, staring silently at the shorter boy. Draco actually had feelings for the boy but of course would never tell. The idea didn't seem too bad in his head, but it was pretend. It wasn't the real relationship he wanted.

"I don't know, Potter..." Draco began.

"I'll pay you!" Harry blurted desperately, cutting the other boy off. Draco thought this over. If he was being paid, it was like a bribe and less of a favor. Somehow it made it feel a little less wrong. It was more of an obligation. He hesitated before responding,

"How much?" Harry thought this over. He would start at a low price and negotiate with Draco.

"4 galleons a week." Harry stated. He readied himself for Draco to deny, but to his surprise Draco responded,

"Alright, Potter. You've got yourself a deal." He stuck out his hand to shake Harry's, and the other boy grabbed his hand and pulled the blonde into a hug. Draco remained stiff out of shock, cursing himself for not hugging back.

"Can you meet me at lunch tomorrow to go over how we're gonna play this?" Harry asked. Draco nodded. "Thanks Malfoy, you're the best." He turned to leave before turning back. "Also maybe we should start using first names if we're gonna, ya know, 'date'" Harry air-quoted the last word. "So, see you, Draco." He said with a smile.

"Bye,... Harry." Draco said with a slight grin upon his face. The blonde watched the other boy walk down the corridor and turn the corner, wondering what the fuck had just happened.
