- Harry and Draco get married and Gilderoy Lockhart is the minister -
Harry and Draco were strolling down the street, hand in hand. Suddenly, Harry heard his name called and turned towards the voice.
"Harry Potter, is that you?" said the surprisingly familiar voice.
"Oh my god." Draco whispered to Harry once they recognized the man. It was Gilderoy Lockhart.
"Er, Lockhart? I mean, Lockhart! It's you!" Harry said, trying to be friendly.
"My gosh, you're all grown now." Said the man with a chuckle. "I know you're probably wondering why this kook is talking to you, but I want to apologize. After I lost my memory, I spent a while in the hospital. I've fully recovered and been brought up to date with most things. I can't believe I had tried to take your memory when you were only twelve years old." He said, shaking his head with shame.
"It's alright, it was a long time ago." Harry said awkwardly. Lockhart smiled, clasping his hands. He turned his head to Draco who had been watching the exchange silently.
"And who's this?" He said, holding his hand out for Draco to shake it. Draco let go of Harry's hand which was clasped in his own and shook the man's hand.
"I'm Draco, Draco Malfoy."
"My fiancé." Harry added, and Lockhart's eyes widened.
"Oh, congratulations!" He said beaming. "You know, I've been ordained, I could marry you guys." He said with a chuckle, and Harry and Draco laughed. The laughter died down. "I'm serious, I could do that for you guys." He said, and Harry and Draco shared a look.
"No, it's okay. Really." Harry said awkwardly.
"Well, here's my card if you change your mind." He said, handing Harry a business card happily.
"We've got to go, but it was nice seeing you." Harry said hurriedly, pulling Draco away. Draco laughed once they were out of earshot. "Still a character that guy, huh." Harry said with a smile.
Later that day at Harry and Draco's apartment, the two were sat on the couch, cuddled under a blanket.
"You know Harry, why don't we let that guy be the minister for the wedding?" Draco put forth, and Harry pulled his head from where it was nestled in Draco's chest.
"Are you serious?"
"Yeah, I'm serious. Think about it, we know the guy so it's not some rando, he seemed eager, and he could have a chance to redeem himself. He's probably a new man since he lost his memory." Draco reasoned, and Harry pursed his lips in thought.
"I'll consider it." He said, breaking into a smile. "You are very persuasive." Harry kissed Draco sweetly on the lips and buried his face back into his lover's chest.
Over the next couple weeks, Harry had finally given in and agreed with Draco. They'd asked Ron his opinion and he said to do it simply because it would be funny. Lockhart had been very enthusiastic in his letter back accepting their offer, and even told them that it was such an honor, he'd do it free of charge.
Four months later, it was finally the day of the wedding. Harry paced around nervously. He was about to get married to the love of his life in about 5 minutes. The venue was a small outdoor area, just a small arch and a few chairs in a garden. Harry was in another area of the garden, walking in circles around the hedges. Neither Harry nor Draco had a lot of family, or at least family that would attend the wedding. They had decided long ago to have a small wedding, they weren't big into celebrations anyway. No flower girls, no ring man, not even groomsmen or best man. Just the guests they wanted to be there. They had invited Mr. and Mrs. Weasley, the closest to family that Harry had. Hermione, Pansy, Blaise, and Draco's mother. Sadly, many seats that should have been filled were left empty. Lupin, Sirius, Fred, and Draco's father. Then again, they might not have even invited Lucius if he wasn't in jail. He had never supported Draco, and would not have supported his marriage with Harry. Harry and Draco had started dating after the battle of Hogwarts, and were engaged three years later. Harry's thoughts were interrupted by the sound of footsteps. Harry turned to see Ron approaching.
"There's the big man." Ron said with a grin. He slapped Harry on the back. "You ready?"
"I think so." Harry said, butterflies in his stomach. "I mean, I'm not having any doubts. It's just nerve-wracking." Ron nodded in agreement and smiled.
"Want to get this show on the road?" He asked his friend warmly. Harry smiled and nodded, walking along side Ron to the spot.
Since this wasn't the traditional wedding after all, there wasn't really an aisle to walk down. Harry and Draco had decided to just meet at the arch, the only aspect they had been keen on keeping. As Harry approached with Ron in toe, he laid eyes on a certain blonde coming towards him from the other direction. Ron hurried over to the small cluster of chairs as Harry and Draco reunited. They stopped momentarily once they were face to face.
"Hey." Harry whispered, smiling widely.
"Hey." Draco replied with a giggle. "You look very handsome."
"Not as handsome as you." Harry said, eyes full of love. He thought that Draco looked beautiful always, but yeah, the tuxedo was nice. Harry took Draco's hand in his and they made their way over to the arch, and Lockhart who was standing underneath it. Once they were stood hand in hand, Lockhart cleared his throat.
"We are gathered together on this day to witness and celebrate the marriage of Draco Malfoy and Harry Potter." He began, and Harry felt tears already well in his eyes. This was really happening. He squeezed Draco's hands tight. Lockhart's words melted into the background a bit, as all he could focus on was Draco's smiling face. They exchanged rings, and before he knew it, the ceremony was almost through.
"Do you, Draco Malfoy, take Harry Potter to be your lawfully wedded husband, to have and to hold, from this day forward, for better, for worse, for richer, for poorer, in sickness and in health, until death do you part?"
"I do."
"And do you, Harry Potter, take Draco Malfoy to be your lawfully wedded husband, to have and to hold, from this day forward, for better, for worse, for richer, for poorer, in sickness and in health, until death do you part?"
"I do." Harry said, tears threatening to spill from his eyes.
"I now pronounce you husband and husband, you may now kiss the groom!" Lockhart finished proudly. Harry leaned forwards and connected their lips and Draco kissed back gently. Their few guests clapped and whooped. The kiss wasn't heated, as there were people around of course. They pulled apart, but their foreheads stayed touching. Draco thumbed the tears of joy from Harry's face with a laugh, and pulled him into a tight embrace. They held each other for a few seconds before letting go.
"So, where to? Getting something to eat I hope." Lockhart said confidently. Everyone stared at him for a moment before quiet laughs broke out.
"Sure, why not. You can come with us." Harry invited. He was in a good mood. After all, it was the best day of his life.
