Sirius was sitting on the couch, engrossed in a book. He was startled by a knock at the door. Only certain people had access to Grimmuald place, so he was a bit confused. Was Remus back from the store already? Why would he have knocked? Sirius figured that his husband had probably forgotten his keys, so he stood up and headed to the door. He whistled a merry tune as he reached the door, unlocking it and turning the handle. When he pulled the door open, he was surprised to see Harry and not Remus.
"Harry? What are you doing here?" He asked, being confused but not angry.
"I just wanted to talk to you." Harry said with a weak smile. "If that's okay, of course."
"Are you kidding? Yeah it's okay, get in here." Sirius said with a laugh. "I think that my own kid is allowed to come see me." He teased, shutting the door and pulling Harry into a hug. Harry hugged him back and smiled. They let go of each other and Harry followed Sirius over to the couch. They plopped down beside each other. "So, what's going on?" Sirius asked. Harry fiddled with the zipper of his jacket.
"When you and Remus got married..." He began, trailing off. "Were you, I don't know, nervous?" Harry asked, looking up at Sirius. Sirius leaned back into the couch and scratched his beard, thinking.
"Maybe I'm the wrong person to ask, because I know that Remus was nervous. But no, I wasn't." He answered honestly. He looked at Harry in question. "Are you having second thoughts?"
"No! Er, no. It's not that." Harry said quickly. He sighed. "I'm not having any doubts. I'm still just... scared." Sirius nodded in understanding.
"I hear you. Tying the knot is a big deal." Sirius responded. "Do you know what you're scared of?" Harry hesitated before answering.
"The whole wedding thing is nerve-wracking. And... what if Draco won't want to be married to me in 10 years?"
"He said yes when you proposed, didn't he?" Sirius reminded.
"Yeah, but he could always take it back if he falls out of love with me." Harry said, voice growing quieter as he finished the sentence. Sirius thought for a moment.
"Remus and I have been married for six years now. We were together when we were young, around your age. As you know, I got... sent away. Locked up." He tried not to get upset. "I think it's fair to say that I was more nervous before proposing than before the wedding. I was nervous that he would say no, even though deep down, I knew he wouldn't. When you get separated for 12 years, there's no insurance that the spark will still be there. We were together again for less than a year again before I proposed." Sirius paused. "I didn't doubt for a second that he was the one. I thought about him every day in that wretched cell." He said quietly. "So once he said yes, I had no fear there on out. Remus had always been a nervous nellie, so I wasn't surprised that he was a little bit anxious about the wedding. Where I'm going with this is that, yes. It's normal to be nervous. I wouldn't be surprised if Draco was too, and that doesn't mean that either of you are having doubts." He finished, giving Harry a small smile. Harry smiled back and sighed.
"You're right." He agreed.
"As usual." Sirius said triumphantly.
"I wouldn't say that." Harry teased. Sirius gasped sarcastically. The two laughed together. Harry knew that Sirius really was right. He felt a little better now.
Before Harry knew it, the day of the wedding had come. He surprisingly felt less nervous than he expected. The wedding should be nice, the venue was pretty. It wasn't a huge wedding but it wasn't very small either. Harry was primarily excited for Draco to be in a suit all evening. Oh... and the getting married part was cool too.
(if it seems like i'm avoiding talking about the actual ceremony it's because i am LMAO i just have no clue how weddings especially mlm weddings work so it'll probably be better if i stray away from details and it'll be mostly from siruis and remus' pov so its fine)
Remus' heart swelled with pride as he watched Harry and Draco exchange vows. He knew that he might not have raised Harry per-say, but he was so proud of the man Harry had grown up to be. He leaned closer to Sirius to quietly voice his thoughts, but did a double take when he noticed Sirius' face.
"Are you crying?" He whispered, holding back a laugh. Sirius sniffed.
"Maybe. Yes. Shut up." He hissed back, wiping at his eyes. Remus chuckled slightly and put his arm around Sirius. They both knew why he was crying, he still couldn't get over the fact that Harry was grown up now. Part of the reason he had such a hard time accepting it was guilt. He could have been a bigger part of Harry's childhood if he hadn't been sent to Azkaban. He missed out on Harry's life, and now look at him. Getting married. That's not actually what he was thinking about right then, don't worry. It's not sad hours over here. Sirius was just crying because he was dramatic.
The rest of the ceremony went smoothly and minimal more tears were shed by Sirius. Unfortunately Harry had seen Sirius crying on his way out, but Sirius was always like this. Harry was unfazed by his dramatics.
The reception was at a cute outdoor location with lots of string lights. Harry arrived and his now husband had a long night of thanking guests ahead of them. A lot of the guests were old friends he hadn't seen in too long, so there was a lot of catching up to do as well.
After being profusely humiliated by Ron's speech, which was about how obsessed with Draco Harry had been during school, Harry decided to go find Sirius. Chatter arose while people ate. Harry gave Draco a not-so-brief parting kiss before going off to find his adoptive parents. He had seen them around, but hadn't had the chance to talk to them that evening yet. He said quick hellos to people that stopped him, but attempted to get by everyone to Sirius and Remus. He found the two talking near the back of the venue, champagne in hand, despite their table being at the front. Sirius grinned when he noticed Harry walking towards him.
"Well if it isn't the man of the hour." Remus greeted, opening his arms. Harry hugged them both at once. When they let go of the group hug Sirius patted Harry on the shoulder.
"Congratulations, Harry. We couldn't be more proud of you." Sirius said, doing his best not to get choked up again. Harry thanked them and they had a nice conversation, about the venue, the guests and whatnot. Harry glanced over at where music had begun to play.
"You guys should come dance." He offered.
"I think that'd be lovely. Right Moons?" Sirius asked. Remus agreed with a smile. Harry expertly dodged Sirius attempting to rustle his hair and slipped away, laughing. The two followed Harry closer to the dance floor. They watched Harry hold his hand out to Draco, who gladly took it. Harry spun Draco around and he laughed. The proud parents would have their own dance together in a moment, but they were content watching for now. Sirius sighed and opened his mouth to speak, but Remus cut in.
"If you say that 'he's all grown up' one more time, I am going to lose my mind."
