Chapter Five: Secrets Are Out

I furiously attacked at the old, tattered punching bag in front of me. Flashes of black eyes and wild blonde hair danced in my vision with every thump of my fists hitting the worn material. It's been two days since my fainting episode and to say I was mad was putting it lightly.

Never in all twenty-one years of my life have I ever fainted. I was angry for showing weakness. Angry for letting Loki get to my head. I could never possess such a power, I was an experiment. I was created to be another Steve Rogers. I was a failure and a success.

I kicked my foot out and rotated my body, roundhouse kicking the bag, causing it to fly off the chain and crash into the wall opposite of me with a loud thud and a splintering hole in the plaster.

"Whoa, what did that bag ever do to you?"

I spun on my heel to face Tony, a small glass of whisky in his hand. "Just getting my frustration out." I strode across the room and easily picked up the 50 lbs. bag with one hand and laid it next to the broken chain. "Sorry."

Tony waved his hand dismissively, "That chain was rusty anyway. Plus, Steve busts them all the time. Though he's never put a hole in the wall." He sat down his now empty glass and smiled lightly at me, "Want to talk about what has you so frustrated?"

I sat down on one of the many backless benches in the make-shift gym. Tony came and sat across from me. "The fact that I fainted pissed me off. I have never fainted before and I let my weakness show."

"Fainting isn't a sign of weakness. It's an overload of stress." Tony's hand rested on my knee. A gesture I could only see as a brotherly one. "What made you faint?"

My hands balled into fists, my knuckles turning a ghostly white, "You'll hate me." Tony shook his head and I turned my face from him. "What Loki said about the Chthonic magic, I know who possesses it."

Tony let out a small gasp, "We have to tell the others." He stood up.

"NO!" I grabbed for his arm and he looked back at me, "You can't."

"Why not?" His eyebrows scrunched together into a deep 'V'.

I took a deep breath and let it out slowly. My eyes flicked between the ground and Tony's brown eyes, "Because it's me."

Tony and I now shared a secret with each other which actually brought us together. We had that brother-sister bond. Tony was the only Avenger to know my dark secret. Though I haven't told him about Chaos.

She hadn't appeared since then but I had this deep gut feeling she was going to make another appearance.

We got a call out to Manhattan, another sighting of Loki and his ugly creatures. We made it there in record time, thanks to Nat's killer flying skills. I was in the middle of attacking the aliens when I saw blonde in my peripheral.

It was like time slowed down. I turned and saw her again. Chaos. She stood in the middle of the fight, her hair gleaming in the morning sunlight. She wore a short, tight purple dress cut low and knee high heeled boots. Chaos looked exactly like me, but more radiant.

"Hello Isis." Chaos smirked at my shocked look and sauntered towards me like I was a fresh piece of meat and she was the lion. "Aren't you happy to see me?"

My eyes narrowed to slits, "You can't be real. You don't exist."

Chaos' laughter was like shattered glass tinkling to the floor, light but dangerous, "Oh honey, I'm real. I live in that pretty little head of ours. I am you, just more powerful. I'm the Chthonic Magic within you."

Chaos' image shattered into a thousand pieces as Tony crashed into her. He didn't acknowledge that someone else was there. I shook my head and got back go the fight, only to turn straight into Loki. I let out a small shriek and I could hear Chaos' mocking laughter in my head.

"It's lovely to see you again, Isis." His smile was evil and sent shivers up my spine.

"Loki." The clouds rumbled with the threatening thunder and lightning. I shoved him away from me and attempted to run but only turned straight into another Loki. I spun around, realizing I was surrounded by a dozen Loki's. "Astral projection. Cute."

Lightning struck every Loki, only one had a spasm from the shock. A smirk formed on my lips, "Gotcha." I rotated my body and kicked my foot out, the heel of my shoe hitting Loki's sternum and knocking him to his his butt.

He stood quickly and glared at me, "Till next time Aurora." And Loki was gone.
