Chapter Nineteen: Hawkeye Down

"You're pathetic." Chaos appeared in front of me, her golden blonde hair reflecting the light in the room. She sat lounging on an armchair, her pedicured feet propped up on an arm rest.

The room was black except for the lights shining on both Chaos and myself. It seemed to go on forever. The only things in the room were an armchair, a rug and the brick wall behind me.

"Where are we?"

Chaos smiled, "Inside your head. This is where I stay while you're in control. Cozy isn't it?"

"It's dark and smells like a musty basement." I looked around and then looked back at Chaos, "How did I get here?"

Chaos replied with a mocking tone, "You got knocked out by Gabriel. The puny tech guy, took you out." She started laughing loudly.

"Why didn't you help then? Too weak?" I sneered at her.

Chaos's laughter stopped abruptly, "I'm not weak. I just did my toes and didn't want to ruin them." She examined her fingernails, not daring to look in my eyes for she knew that I had figured out that she was weak. "Look, I'm weak because I haven't been able to come out in forever and plus all that stupid stuff you've been doing with that therapist chick isn't helping."

I smiled triumphantly, "So it's working."

Chaos glared and was about to say something but then a force shook us and the sound of my name being yelled echoed around the endless room.

I let out a gasp and my eyes flew open to see Clint above me, worry etched all over his face. "Oh thank god you're awake, but we need to go." He lifted me into his arms bridal style and ran across the building.

We were halfway to cover when Clint let out a gasp of pain and started falling forward. I flew out of his arms, sliding across glass and rock. I scrambled up and back to Clinton, ignoring the pain in my legs and arms, and noticed that he had a bullet hole in his side.

"Oh god, Clinton," I grabbed his face, "Clinton can you hear me?"

He groaned and shut his eyes, "No. Barton, you have to stay with alright? Keep your eyes open." I smacked his cheek lightly. He was losing blood. And fast.

I looked around, my eyes searching frantically and then connecting with green. His eyes widened and he rapidly shook his head. "I'm sorry." I shot my fist out, shooting a fireball at my friend.

A roar ripped through the air, "Okay big guy," His green eyes connected with my blue ones, "Smash."

Hulk smiled and roared again, charging and smashing everything in his path that wasn't friendly. I tore my uniform and wrapped it tightly around Clinton's wound. After it was tightly knotted, I hooked my arms under his armpits and dragged him out of the line of fire, using my powers to block any attacks on us.

"JARVIS, I need a S.H.I.E.L.D nurse stat."

"Dr. Akin is in the building, I will call her up."

"Thank you." I went to run back out, but an invisible force stopped me. "What the-"

"Sorry Miss Caine, but I have been given direct orders to keep you inside."

I cursed under my breath at Tony, "JARVIS, let me out." I pounded on the force field, "JARVIS let me out this instant! They need my help!" I growled at the AI and thought of a way to get around the him.

I watched as my friends attacked alien after alien. Loki and Thor fought while Steve and Tony fought off Gabriel. They were doing well, but I still wanted to help.

"Aurora, go help Hawkeye."

Tony? "Tony? How the hell?"

"I had JARVIS link me to the house intercom. Just go see if Clinton is okay, we have this."

I groaned, "Fine, but we are so discussing this later."
