Chapter Eleven: Gabriel

Steve:

We were all ready for bed after the Disney trip, but as a superhero, sleep was but an option. Anglos had come to Los Angeles. We made our way to the beach he was attacking.

I watched Aurora fly in with Tony and fall into the sand, a small hiss of pain escaping her lips. I looked at her, thinking she may of hurt herself, seeing as Tony and her were still a good ten feet in the air.

"I'm fine." Aurora said.

I turned my attention back to the screaming pedestrians on the beach. I fought off creatures coming from every angle, but that's when I saw it.

I watched in horror as Anglos attacked Aurora and her body erupted in flames. My heart clenched and I almost felt like throwing up. Tony yelled in horror, wanting to attack Anglos but being held back by Hulk.

"ISIS!" Natasha punched and kicked her way through the aliens and to Aurora's still burning body.

But what shocked us the most was when she stood up, still completely engulfed in flames. An evil laughter bubbling from her lips. This definitely wasn't Aurora.

"What's wrong Anglos? Never seen this side of a girl before?" Her voice was slightly higher in pitch.

Anglos backed up slowly and went to run, but was engulfed in water. We all stared at Isis as she attacked Anglos. Then we knew she wasn't going to stop.

"Isis no!" I stepped forward, hand extended.

She turned to me and I sucked in a nervous breath. Aurora's eyes were no longer blue, but pitch black.

"Aurora, don't do this. Killing him is not the way to go." I tried reasoning with her.

"He's trying to kill me. Why shouldn't I, Cappy boy?" She cocked her head at me.

"Because the Aurora I know doesn't kill."

Aurora's eyes flicked back and forth between blue and black. It was like she was fighting herself.

"Come back to me Rora."

Her eyes changed back to blue and she stared at Anglos. The water fell from his body, but not before knocking off his mask. A loud gasp left Isis' lips.

"Gabriel?"

"Hello Orrie."

Her eyes were wide in shock, "B-but why? Why are you trying to kill me?" Aurora searched the man's face.

"You left me! And all because you have powers. I'm not trying to kill you at all." He lunged towards Aurora with a syringe.

I jumped in front of her, blocking the syringe with my shield. I could hear the thin needle break. I pushed outward and Anglos hit the ground and disappeared.

Aurora's eyes were wide with confusion, "How could he do this?"

Aurora sat down across from us in the briefing room. We all wanted to know who Gabriel was and why he was after her.

"Gabriel was my best friend at the government agency I worked for. He was my vehicle technician and partner on certain missions. Gabe was the most crushed at the news of me leaving and I guess when I video chatted him and told him the possibility of me staying with you guys was pretty high, he got angry." She clasped her hands together and gave all of us a tight lipped smile.

I could see in her blue eyes that she was trying to hold back the tears. I knew how it felt to have a friend fight against you. Natasha must've seen it as well because she got up and pulled Aurora into a hug. The rest of us joined shortly after, capturing her in a group hug while tears fell to the floor.

I'm so sorry I took so long to update. I've been fighting through somethings, but I'm okay now and ready to continue my story.

Sorry it's short. Next chapter will be better.
