Chapter 48: End of a Dark Phase

Mira's POV

Kalagitnaan ng gabi, naalimpungatan ako nang gumalaw ako para yakapin si Xander, pero halos hita niya lang ang nayakap ko. I looked up to see that he was sitting and leaning on the headboard of the bed. He was looking back at me with blank expressions on his face.

"Hmm, ba't gising ka pa?" medyo malat pa ang boses ko habang bumabangon ako at tinabihan siya.

He smiled and leaned in to kiss me on my forehead, "It's already passed time of your birthday..."

Napa-tingin ako sa digital clock sa bedside table, and it's already 2:12 am.

"What about it?" nagtataka kong tanong.

He took a deep sigh before standing up from the bed and went into the closet. I reached for my robe and wrapped it around me as I wait for him. Mabilis din naman siyang lumabas ng kwarto at sumampa ulit sa kama.

He took a sigh again as he handed me as CD Rom, "Kahapon ko lang din 'to natanggap and I don't think its right to give this to you on your birthday."

"I know you haven't heard about him for some time now." Dagdag pa niya. Nagtataka kong tinanggap ang CD at tinignan ang nakasulat dito.

Patient 05842 - Zedric Shaw

Mabilis akong napasinghap nang mabasa 'yon. Tumingin ako kay Xander, "A-Ano 'to?"

He exhales, "If you want to know what happened to him, Ken says that this CD explains it all."

Mabilis akong tumayo at pumunta sa home office ni Xander at binuksan ang PC niya. Ipinasak ko ang CD at tinignan ang mga files na nasa loob. Puro video files. Across of the room, I saw Xander leaning on the door frame and was just watching me.

I proceeded to click the first video file and a video of what seems a CCTV footage of a room popped out on the screen. With complete time and date when the footage was taken. There sat Zedric, slowly banging his head to the wall of the room while muttering words that I don't understand. It got worse when he started banging his head a little harder than what he was first doing. Few seconds passed, couple of staff went into the room and stopped him from what he's doing.

I click another video file and it shows Zedric, sitting on a chair, his back facing the CCTV camera. His hands were on his head, as if he was thinking about something. He stayed at that position for a couple of seconds until he went rogue. He stood up and started throwing things. Anything he can get hold of, he would start smashing and throwing things around. And just like the first vid, staffs came into the room to stop him.

The third clip was different from the first two. It shows a night vision of the CCTV where Zedric was sleeping. It was all normal, just like the first few seconds of the second video. He seems to be sleeping normally and soundly. Until he started screaming literally out of nowhere. He's screaming but he was still asleep. And I felt scared and even a bit shaken hearing his screams. The video ended abruptly and I don't even know what happened next after that.

Nanlalata akong napasandal sa gaming chair ni Xander. Parang hindi ko na kayang panoorin ba yung iba pang mga video clip. Lumapit sa pwesto ko si Xander at humilig siya sa computer table paharap sa'kin.

"Where is he now?" I breathlessly asked.

"Germany." he exhales, "He's in a psych ward. Ken put him there."

"How long has he been in there?"

"Simula nung umalis siya ng Japan. Tumulong siya saglit sa kaso laban sa mga magulang niya. As you know, he testified against them."
