Xander's POV

My hand lay rested on her flat stomach as I held her hand with my other hand. I was asking around all the people whom my wife last interacted with and they all said the same thing. She was fearless on facing the assh0le and seemed completely unaware of the precious life inside her.

I closed my eyes as I planted a kiss on her hand. I couldn't formulate the words I should say. That precious and innocent life was our baby, yet our child has to bear the consequences of this unjust murder of my wife. Worst, paano ko 'to sasabihin sa kanya?

I stared back to my wife until someone called my attention from the viewing window. It was Mom. I stood up from my seat and went outside of the room.

"Bakit?"

"I just want to have your permission."

"For what?"

She looked at Mira through the viewing window, "Gusto ko sanang ipa-scan si Mira.I already talked to the doctors and to an OB if it's fine if she'd have an ultrasound. And they said, pwede naman daw. They'll just need your permission to do so."

My mother held my hand tightly.

"Xander, anak, I am just doing this para sa ika-papanatag ng kalooban mo. I don't want to see you blaming yourself for what happened. Malinaw naman na parehas niyong hindi alam ang tungkol sa apo ko."

This morning, I told my parents about Mira's pregnancy once they came. I have no one in mind to tell and to seek some advice beside my mother. The moment I told her about it, she started crying her heart out. That's why she started arranging these scans for Mira.

"Sa pagkakakilala ko kay Mira, she's selfless. She is willing to put herself in line just to protect those people she love. And if she only knew, she wouldn't act the way she acted." Mom said.

"I know that."

"Would you allow it, son?"

I looked at her and gave her a faint smile as I nodded. Minutes later, we were told to wait outside the ICU as they did the necessary tests for my wife. It took almost an hour before we were invited to the office of the OB. With my mom, we sat down as they OB handed me the ultrasound picture of Mira's womb.

"It is the patient's first pregnancy. Eighty percent of miscarriage occur in the first trimester. The causes of miscarriage can be various, but given the situations of your wife and her history, it is more likely she'd have miscarriage."

I bit my lip as I asked her, "Why does it looked like she's not aware? I've read and heard that women would notice changes in their body. My mother also told me that she feels and knows that she's already conceiving me even if it's in the early weeks."

"Every pregnancy is different. There are times where symptoms comes out when the baby is already 14-16 weeks old. And there are also instances where first time mothers mistakenly thought that vaginal bleeding is just a monthly period."

"How old is the baby?" Mom asked.

"Assumptions could be 3-4 weeks old."

"A very early stage." Mom muttered.

"That is why she's prone to miscarriage. The tests also showed that the miscarriage happened for some time now and was not recent."

"Huh? Then when did it happened?" My Mom asked.
