Chapter 25: Another step into his life

Xander's POV

I pressed the button to lock my car as I made my way to the elevator. Hell of a day!

I pressed my unit's floor and rode the elevator. Just then, I received a text from Tisha saying that she just left Mira in the unit along with everything they bought for her. I replied 'thanks' to her and put back my phone on my pocket. Pa-minsan minsan ko ring iniinat ang likod ko dahil sa mag-hapong pag-kaka upo sa office. Halos mas matangkad na sa'kin ang tinapos ko kanina. Ang hirap talagang mawala kahit isang araw lang sa office. And my grandfather would make sure that I'll have plenty of work to do so.

I reached my floor and went straight to my unit. I punched my code and opened the door. I immediately saw Mira standing across me, eyeing me for only she knows whatever reason it is.

"Hey, how's your day?" I asked

She crossed her arms around her chest, "We need to talk." she said, putting emphasis to every word she said.

Niluwagan ko ang neck tie ko saka pabagsak na umupo sa sofa, "About what?"

"About everything."

Nag-tataka akong tumingin sa kanya, "What do you mean?"

"Sabihin mo nga sa'kin Xander, talaga bang sayo na 'tong unit noon pa?"

I closed my eyes as I laid my head back to the sofa. Sinabi ko kay Tisha, wag mag-salita e.

"Answer me, Xander!"

"Ano pa? Ano pang sinabi sayo ni Tisha?"

"So totoo? Binili mo 'tong condo dahil pupunta ako dito?"

"It's just a condo."

"Anong 'it's just a condo'? Tisha told me that you're staying in your parents' house ever since na pumunta ka dito. So, why buy a condo?"

"So gusto mo, kila Mama ka tutuloy?" I said, challenging her. I know how uncomfortable would it be for her to stay in one roof with my whole family.

I saw hesitation in her eyes, "Hindi naman sa ganun."

"Yun naman pala e." I said as I closed my eyes.

I am already tired at ayoko nang makipag-away sa kanya. But knowing Mira, she wouldn't go down without a fight.

"Sa totoo lang, given the fact na wala talaga akong kahit ano, pwede nga akong matulog sa kalsada e."

"And you think I would allow that?"

"Fine. But out of many places to hide, why here?"

"'Cause I'm here. It's my grounds, I can protect you here."

She exhaled and looked away from me. And then she pointed those paper bags from the side, "Kaninong pera yung ginastos namin para jan?"

"Sa'kin."

"Xander?!"

"Ano?"

Padabog siyang lumapit sa harap ko, folded her arms again and eyed me angrily, "Bakit mo kailangang gawin lahat 'to?"

"Because you need it."

"Actually, I don't. I mean, sino naman kasi ako para gastusan mo nang ganito? Alam mo ba kung naka-magkano kami- ahh!!"

Mabilis ko siyang hinatak paupo sa tabi ko at sumandal sa balikat niya.
