Chapter 24: In his homecourt

Mira's POV

"Xander please, wag na."

He just gave me the scolding look before he continued to roll up the sleeve of the hoodie that I'm wearing. Naka-tulog ako mag-mula ng umalis kami sa Pilipinas. 'Yon ata ang una at pinaka-matino kong tulog simula ng mga nangyari. After several hours of sleeping, I woke up with Xander sitting beside me and started to interrogate me.

When he was finished rolling up my sleeve upto my elbow, he examined my arm. Tinitignan ko siya habang ginagawa niya yun, he looked so serious. And he seemed so familiar with concealers 'cause he was able to rub a spot with a cloth and revealed one of my bruises. I even flinched when he touched it. Kaya mabilis kong inagaw ang kamay ko.

"Hindi mo na sana ginawa 'to." sabi ko sabay takip sa pasa ko.

"Patingin ako."

"Ayoko."

"Isa."

I rolled my eyes on him.

"Dalawa."

Nanatili akong naka-tingin sa bintana.

"Don't make me count three or I'll do something I know we'll both like."

"Do what—?"

My words stopped coming out from my mouth when I just saw his face inches away from mine. Kaagad akong napa-tingin kay Owen na nasa kabilang side lang namin and he just shooked his head, smiled and looked away.

So as what my instincts told me to do, I pushed him. But my efforts were wasted when with only one of his hands held both of mine. Kaagad nalipat ang tingin niya sa mga labi ko. Damnit! Wala man lang ba siyang pake kahit may ibang tao?!

Lumapit pa lalo ang mukha niya sa'kin so I instinctively closed my eyes, tightly.

Seconds later, I felt a cloth rubbing against the side of my lips. I opened up my eyes and saw how near his face was.

His concerned eyes were suddenly changed into furious ones after rubbing it.

"How did he do that?"

"Do what?" kinapa ko yung spot na pinunasan niya at napa-igik ako nang maramdaman ko yung pasa ko. I paused for a while before answering, "He slapped me using the back of his hand."

He looked up and inhaled, as if he was calming his nerves. Then he turned his eyes to me, "Akala ko ba marunong kang mag-martial arts?"

"Yeah, but I can't use that to him. He's ten times worst than me. At saka, kahit gawin ko 'yon, wala akong takas kay Daddy."

He scoffed on what I said, "Meron pa. Meron pang hindi sinasabi si Claire sa'kin."

"A-Ano?" I suddenly felt scared to him. He looked like someone who is out for blood. Zedric's blood to be precise.

"That one thing Zedric did to you na hindi niya masabi-sabi sa'kin. Ano 'yun?"

"Alin ba?" nagtataka ako sa tinatanong niya.

Owen spoke, "I suggest you not to tell him. I would bet he'll jump out of this plane to kill that dumbass."

"You know what I was asking?!" Xander shouted

"Yep, bro. But I won't tell you."

Nilingon ako ni Xander, "Sabihin mo, ano yun?!"

"Alin ba? Wala naman kasing akong naiintindihan sa sinasabi mo..."

"Mira..."

Inirapan ko nga, "Wala akong maintindihan sa mga sinasabi mo."
