"And why can't I be the Dad?" tanong ng batang lalaki sa harapan namin.

Mula nang magising ako, I managed to regain my strength in getting my grip back and getting up, but not standing. Ngayon ko pa lang susubukan tumayo. The first thing they did was to massage my muscles as I will try putting force on it later on.

When we were having breakfast, nandito pa si Xander kasama namin. Actually, I felt a cold shoulder from him since I wake up this morning. Kaya napa-isip ako kung ganun ba talaga ka offensive na mag-tanong ako kung bakit ako nandito at kung bakit siya wala nung nagising ako, when in fact, I was totally unaware of everything.

They brought a parallel walking bar into the room as I started to try and stand on my feet. But first, a nurse was assisting me to try to stand from the bed. I could not even explain in words the struggle of gaining back my strength.

It really took me a very long time to get used on putting my weight and force both on my knees and my toes.

By the time I was able to get used, just a little bit, to standing, it was already lunch. So, nag-pahinga muna kami para makapag-tanghalian.

"You're doing great, anak. You're almost there..." sabi ni Mama.

I gave her a faint smile as I continued to eat.

After lunch and few more break, bumalik ulit ako sa therapy. This time, I would try to take few steps. They said that since I have the momentum of standing up, might as well try to take few steps.

I managed to reach the end of the walking bar and the nurse instructed me to do the same and went back.
