The night I came home after the funfair, my parents interrogated me for hours on where I was and who I was with and why I was so late to bring the dinner home, which was cold by the time I got home. I had no idea what to say so I just told them the Alpha gave me work to do but I don't think either of them believed me.
Luckily, my mum was the one who let me off the hook before my dad started going on a rampage about me lying to him.
It's been about a week now since I last saw Dom and I'd be lying if I said I didn't miss him. It's been depressingly lonely without him and although he still sends me texts throughout the day, it's not the same. Especially after our night at the funfair, how could I not think about him day and night?
The worst part about it was that I was constantly hot and bothered, I keep getting hot flashes and waves of lust which spread throughout my entire body. This was something we called 'heat,' - where after a wolf finds its mate their wolves begin desiring each other in every way possible. You want to be around your mate, you want to kiss, hold and cuddle your mate and most important mate with them.
It's not necessary to mate during a wolf's heat, some would call it reckless. That's because a wolf being in heat is a very vulnerable time and will want to only mate to get rid of the pain and uncomfortableness. Heat usually lasts a whole week and the symptoms get worse and worse each passing day to the point where you are physically hurting if you don't mate. The heat will also occur once a month until you and your mate finally "seal the deal."
Of course, I was not ready to mate at this point but I'm hoping that shortly it will be possible. I also don't think Dom is ready and I'd hate to force him into it too just because my scent was driving him crazy.
Oh, that's another thing. Our scents become much sweeter and stronger than other wolves, but especially our mates. This makes it harder for them to resist and for you to keep your cool.
Is it so bad wanting to mate with your loved one? Silas scoffed.
No, but I think we can both agree that I'd rather have our first time more special, out of love and not purely just lust.
I guess, Silas rolled his eyes. Stop being so rational, it's annoying.
I laughed, ending our small conversation and continuing to dispose of all the empty beer cans around the living room, kindly scattered about by my dearest dad.
"You're still not finished yet?" My dad grumbled, coming down the stairs with yet another can of beer in his hand. "Your mother and I are hungry."
"What do you want to eat?" I asked, clenching my jaw in annoyance and not even bothering to look up to him.
"Fuck knows," he growled. "Do I have to think of everything?!"
"No, sorry." I glared at the floor.
"Fucking hell, how can the Alpha put up with you? So lazy you can't even come up with a meal to serve your family." He scoffed, drinking the last of his beer and scrunching up the can and throwing it in my direction.
The can hit my shoulder painlessly and fell to the ground, the metal crunching as it hit the ground by my feet.
"Clean that up," he glared over his shoulder.
I glared daggers into his back as he stumbled drunkenly up the stairs, mumbling slurs under his breath about how 'useless' and 'ungrateful' his son was.
Go fuck yourself, old man.
With a loud slam of his bedroom door behind him, he was finally gone. I picked up the scrunched up, empty can from the floor beside me and threw it effortlessly into the bin bag in my other hand.
Once I finished cleaning up the rest of the living room, hovering and making it look as presentable as I could, I moved onto the kitchen. I scrubbed counter after counter, the oven and emptied all the bad food from the fridge.
I rubbed the back of my hand over my forehead getting rid of the sweat pools that started running down my face, as I looked around the area, finally finished. The place was shining, finally bringing a smile onto my face as I glanced around proudly at my work.
I gave myself a quick two-minute break before starting on the dinner, some homemade burgers. I seriously had to come up with better meals to feed myself with. But burgers were irresistible, so maybe not.
I grabbed all the ingredients and placed them on the counter, firstly getting the mince patties ready and cooking them four at a time. While they cooked, I chopped up the tomatoes into diced and torn off lettuce leaves, small enough to fit between the buns.
Once the burgers were all finished cooking I put each of the eight burgers between buns filled with the already chopped ingredients and some cheese. My stomach growled eagerly as the aromatic scent of the burgers filled the entire house.
While they cooled down, I sprinted up to my room and took a quick shower, finally able to discard the sweaty clothes that had stuck to me. Sadly, I wasn't able to enjoy my shower as much as I should have because of my stomachs constant rumbles. So, I quickly scrubbed my body clean and washed my hair as fast as I could and stepped out with a towel around my waist.
As I stepped out of the tub my foot slipped and I came tumbling out of the shower and crashing into the floor with a scream. I groaned into the floor as my cheek was painfully pressed against the cold tiles below me.
That was gonna leave a few bruises.
Just as I thought things couldn't get any worse, the doorbell rang. I jumped up and sprinted into my room, putting on a pair of boxers and some sweatpants. The doorbell rang again and growled in frustration as I ran down the stairs, not even bothering to put a shirt on.
I opened the door with one hand and rubbed my wet hair with a towel with the other. I froze with wide eyes as I saw who greeted me all with soft smiles.
Dom stood in front of me with the corners of his mouth turning up into a subtle smile as he looked down at me. His parents stood behind him, side by side with an excited look on their faces as they observed me.
"Hey," Dom spoke softly.
"Hi," I smiled, feeling my heartbeat uncontrollably in my chest.
"How are you dear?" Violet asked with a heartwarming smile.
"Good, thank you," I answered before realising I still haven't let them in. "Oh, come in."
I stepped aside, opening the door wider for them all as they all piled in one after the other.
"That smells delicious," Malcolm stated as he stepped inside. "What's that smell?"
"Homemade burgers," I blushed.
"You made them?" Dom asked.
I nodded.
"Alpha! Luna!" My mum came down the stairs with her drunken husband by her side, trying his best to steady himself and look professional. "It's so good to see you! And, of course, our soon to be Alpha!"
My mother bowed to all of them as did my dad while I just looked awkwardly at my feet. I already knew my dad was going to be an embarrassment today, he always is when he's drunk. If he's not aggressively verbally abusive then he makes damn sure he shames me when we're in front of other people.
"We were just talking about you earlier Dominic," my father chuckled while struggling to stay upright. "How on earth could you work with Shay so much? I mean, he can't even come up with a meal suggestion and clean up properly."
He burst into fits of laughter, not accompanied by anyone else, as I stood with a beating red face and clenched jaw. Motherfucker. Not even greeting them and yet he's so eager to make sure I'm the one feeling like shit.
"Actually," Dom started with his fists clenching beside him, his knuckles turning white. "For your information, he's plenty of help, I'd go as far as saying he's one of my best warriors."
"Is that so?" My dad chuckled, not believing a word of his.
"I'm gonna go set up the table," I stated.
I didn't waste a second staying in that scene any longer as I walked over to the open kitchen and grabbed all the utensils I need in embarrassment and shame.
